The Studio Channel’s Class A tube preamp features a 12AX7 tube with high output power, boasting double the supply voltage compared to other preamps in this class. This delivers enormous headroom and huge sonic depth.

The gain and tube drive controls let you dial in tones ranging from transparent and clear to gritty and overdriven. With the -20 dB pad, 80 Hz high-pass filter, and phase switch, you can perfectly position the signal in the mix.

Fast, Smooth & Musical VCA Compression

Presonus’ VCA-based compressor, known for its musicality, tames even the fastest transients thanks to its high response speed. Whether slap bass, snare drum, or vocals – the Studio Channel’s compressor lets you precisely control dynamics even at the highest signal levels.

Alongside controls for ratio, threshold, attack, release, and gain, the handy auto-attack/release function offers preset attack and release curves. The backlit VU meter can display either output level or gain reduction.

Beautiful-Sounding 3-Band EQ – Pre or Post Compressor

The Studio Channel’s 3-band equalizer is a precision tool to suppress unwanted frequencies and fine-tune your sound down to the last detail. The EQ can be placed before or after the compressor, with each band independently bypassable.

The specially designed amplifier stages ensure smooth highs, deep, powerful bass, and a transparent midrange. The mid band is fully parametric with variable Q, while the semi-parametric high and low bands offer controls for frequency and gain but fixed Q, and can be switched between shelving or peak modes.
