MOTU is of course a big name in this field, but with a budget of up to 300,- € I didn't have the guys from Cambridge Massachusetts on my radar at first.
But yes, MOTU has decided to offer an interface in this price range as well. It seems like they looked in their parts boxes and realized: Cheap pots? We don't. Cheap chips and preamps? Neither do we. Plastic knobs and housings? Negative. I guess that's why they packed their high end components into the thing and I wonder how anyone can make any money that way.
The thing has become really high quality and MOTU can program drivers! Latency is no longer an issue! Even more complex configurations in Guitar Rig, for example, are barely noticeable. There is no difference between monitor and direct path for me. The loopback function is very interesting for streamers. The PC sound can be mixed together with the live sound, the problem that the programs fight over the ASIO driver does not exist here.
Very chic also the strikingly good sound and the colored LED display for out and input.
I am completely satisfied and enthusiastic, the price / performance ratio (190, - €) exceeds my expectations many times over. Therefore, my clear recommendation for semi-professional use.
