A built-in timecode generator provides stable synchronization across your entire setup without extra gear. A variety of sync options are available, including HDMI, dedicated timecode in/out, timecode output for a camera, and wireless synchronization with Atomos over Bluetooth (optional AK-BT2 adapter required).

Smarter Filming with HDMI-Based Synchronization
When synchronizing over HDMI* audio and video data are precisely aligned using a common clock signal and timecode. The trigger function lets you start and stop audio recording directly from a compatible camera - no extra steps and no fear of missed takes. With full pass-through of 4K/8K video and embedded multichannel audio, the FR-AV4 pairs effortlessly with monitor recorders like Blackmagic and Atomos.

Sync to a Camera via HDMI
By connecting an FR-AV4 to a camera via HDMI, you achieve precise video/audio synchronization. This also lets the FR-AV4 automatically start and stop recording in response to the camera.
Video and Audio Embedded Over HDMI
The FR-AV4 can record four audio tracks plus a stereo mix. The 4K/8K video signal passes through the FR-AV4 and is recorded on the monitor recorder. Additionally, the FR-AV4 can pass the camera's audio through so it can be captured as part of the multitrack sound on the monitor recorder.
Cascade Multiple FR-AV4 Units Over HDMI
If four recording tracks aren't enough, you can link multiple FR-AV4 units over HDMI to form a cascade. The clock is synchronized between devices, and you can start and stop recording from the first unit in the chain.
Monitor Over Bluetooth
The optional AK-BT2 Bluetooth adapter lets you monitor your audio sources wirelessly with the FR-AV4. Wired and wireless outputs can be used in parallel with independent volume control, so multiple people can listen simultaneously via headphones or speakers.
Flexible Monitoring
Use the dedicated monitor page on the display to quickly select and monitor any channel. Selected channels are color-highlighted. Multiple selected channels are mixed for output.
Full Control via Touch, Jog Dial and App
A responsive color touchscreen and jog wheel give you full control - even with gloves on. And with the Tascam Recorder Connect app for iOS, iPadOS and Android you can control multiple FR-AV4, FR-AV2 and DR-10L Pro units wirelessly over Bluetooth*
