Yamaha DXR mkII Series - Louder, Lighter, Simply Legendary!

Since its launch, the DXR series has represented a fusion of raw power and technological innovation, reliably delivering high performance with superior quality and clarity. The active speakers of the DXR mkII series are the newly upgraded models offering even more sound pressure and a larger yet much lighter 1.75-inch neodymium HF compression driver for extremely clear vocal reproduction and musicality.
Once again, our team worked closely with touring speaker specialist NEXO, bringing in key insights and expertise that led to design improvements based on the ever-evolving demands of professional sound engineers.
Whether for fixed installations or mobile live performances—no matter where you want to take your sound—the DXR mkII series rises to the challenge, combining raw power with our proprietary advanced DSP features for all the reliability and outstanding clarity you expect. Expect nothing but MORE from the DXR series.

Less Weight, More Power
The transducers of the DXR range have been enhanced and carefully custom-tailored. The characteristics and behavior of the speaker components were fully analyzed and evaluated using sophisticated computer simulations to determine their performance potential. The woofers deliver defined, deep, and low-distortion bass, while the newly equipped, larger yet significantly lighter 1.75" neodymium precision HF compression drivers produce accurate mids and highs up to 20 kHz.
The tweeter features a newly developed 90°x60° CD (Constant Directivity) horn design. The dispersion pattern is optimized so that, unlike conventional horns, precise and balanced reproduction is achieved even at very oblique angles. This allows a larger area to be covered without disruptive irregularities. The optimal directional angle is 90° horizontally and 60° vertically, ensuring the full frequency spectrum remains intact even in the outermost corners of the coverage area.
The Ingenuity of Yamaha & the Expertise of NEXO Combine to Create a New Range of DXRs

Whether for fixed installations or mobile live shows—no matter where you want to take your sound—the DXR mkII series is up to the task, combining raw power with our proprietary advanced DSP features for all the reliability and outstanding clarity you expect. Expect nothing but MORE from the DXR series.

Ultra-Precise 48-Bit Signal Processing for High-Definition Sound
All fullrange models feature Yamaha’s proprietary FIR-X tuning with linear-phase frequency band division via FIR filters. FIR-X tuning simultaneously optimizes frequency and phase behavior by perfectly aligning the timing of HF and LF transducers. This ensures an extremely smooth crossover frequency and results not only in very natural imaging but also in a significantly more transparent sound than conventional crossovers can achieve. All signals are processed accurately by a high-performance 48-bit processor (76-bit accumulator) for high-definition sound quality. Additionally, all fullrange models use highly precise, discretely built AD/DA converters with outstanding signal-to-noise ratio and fantastic dynamic range.

Intelligent Dynamic Control for Full Transparency at Any Output Level
D-CONTOUR is an intelligent multiband compressor that ensures powerful and clear sound at any output level. It continuously monitors the output level of multiple frequency bands and calculates an optimal level for each. Even at maximum volume, the sound remains absolutely transparent and musical.
Precise sound tuning is achieved via two different settings—the FOH/Main and MONITOR modes. FOH/MAIN boosts low frequencies because the bass range usually suffers when speakers are flown or mounted on stands. The MONITOR mode is ideal for stage monitoring. It dynamically controls low frequencies to prevent bass buildup caused by reflections between the transducer and nearby surfaces when speakers are placed on the floor.
Frequency bands are smoothed over a wide range, ensuring you always enjoy an amazingly clear monitor sound. Both presets were perfected through countless listening tests with experienced sound engineers down to the last detail. In summary, you get a multiband compressor that provides a balanced, low-distortion sound at any output level thanks to its dynamic tone control.

Comprehensive DSP Protection Features for Maximum Volume
In a typical system consisting of passive speakers, amplifiers, and signal processors, it’s often very tedious to optimally set parameters for each component. One advantage of active speakers is that the amplifiers can be perfectly matched to the individual speakers. During the development of the DSR, DXR, and DXS model series, the durability of all transducers and the total output power of the amplifiers were extensively measured and tested. Numerous indoor and outdoor listening tests were conducted. Based on the results, we were able to precisely set the limiter’s optimal operating point for each model via DSP.
In addition to optimized limiting, our new speaker systems feature many protection functions also used in our top-tier professional TXn series power amplifiers. A high-performance DSP chip continuously monitors incoming signals as well as the status of the power supply, amplifiers, and transducers to protect all components. This ensures these speakers can fully unleash their potential and guarantee absolutely safe operation even under the toughest conditions.
Highly Efficient Class-D Amplifier with 1100 Watts
All speakers in the DXR range are equipped with super-efficient Class-D amplifiers perfectly matched to the high and low drivers. These amplifiers deliver an enormous output power of 1100 watts for their class and produce an impressive sound pressure level of 133 dB. They provide fast attack times and above-average transient response, significantly contributing to the incredible audio performance of these speakers.
The power capability of the DXR range is also supported by a new, highly efficient switching power supply. It accepts multiple input voltages and can therefore be used worldwide.

Intelligent 3-Channel Mixer
The DXR series features a flexible internal mixer with multiple inputs, making it ideal for simple amplification of vocals or instruments. Thanks to the flexibly assignable inputs and outputs, a sound system can consist solely of DXR speakers or be seamlessly integrated with DSR and DXS models.
The internal mixer handles up to three inputs that can be used simultaneously. They accept both line and microphone levels. You can connect all kinds of different microphones, line instruments, and portable audio devices. In the MIC position, a high-pass filter is automatically activated to eliminate unwanted footstep noise.
All DXR speakers have a high-pass filter adjustment to match them with DSR and DXS speaker models. You can choose between 100 Hz and 120 Hz cutoff frequency depending on which subwoofer you use. The DXS subwoofers also feature an adjustable low-pass filter (LPF), enabling a perfectly optimized HPF/LPF combination.
Each channel has its own volume control, allowing you to mix three independent signal sources. The THRU output carries the input signal from channel 1. LINK OUT outputs the sum of all channels and is perfect for daisy-chaining or routing the summed signal elsewhere. LINK OUT is also very useful when creating a compact PA with another DXR. LINK MODE allows switching between stereo and dual-mono operation.
Stable, Compact ABS Enclosures
The fullrange models feature robust, low-resonance ABS enclosures capable of absorbing vibrations generated at high levels. This minimizes distortion and ensures outstanding sound quality. The roadworthy enclosures come with sturdy grills and ergonomic aluminum handles, making them even more durable and easier to transport.

Symmetrical Enclosure Design for Floor Monitoring in Mirrored Mode
The design of the DXR12 and DXR15 enclosures allows for "mirrored" positioning of two monitors. This setup creates a symmetrical sound field and a larger, well-defined sweet spot for the performer. It doesn’t matter which mode is used on the linked speakers—dual mono or stereo. In any case, the performer’s experience will greatly benefit.

Stand Socket for Two Different Angles
Depending on the venue, your mix may sometimes suffer from low ceilings or other unfavorable room characteristics. Achieving a clear, balanced mix becomes difficult, affecting the audience’s listening pleasure. The two DXR stand sockets allow for two different angles—0° and 7°. This lets you keep sound energy away from reflective surfaces and direct it where it belongs—onto the audience.
Rig Mounting Points for Standard Eye Bolts and Optional U-Brackets
The DXR speakers are equipped with rigging points for standard eye bolts*. If more hanging options are needed, optional U-brackets are available. They allow easy "flying" of the speakers in horizontal or vertical orientation. *Eye bolts are optional accessories
Pronomic Speaker Stand Included
The practical stand ensures a secure footing for your speaker with its stable tripod construction, whether on stage, in the rehearsal room, or in clubs. Various adjustment options guarantee maximum flexibility in positioning, and an additional metal pin secured with a nylon strap prevents accidental speaker falls.
