Ultra-Precise 48-Bit Signal Processing for High-Definition Sound

All full-range models feature Yamaha’s proprietary FIR-X tuning, which uses linear-phase FIR* filters for the crossover. FIR-X tuning simultaneously optimizes frequency and phase response and adjusts the time alignment between the HF and LF transducers. This creates a very smooth frequency response around the crossover point, delivering much better clarity and imaging than conventional crossovers.

All signals are precisely processed by a high-performance processor to ensure high-resolution sound quality. All full-range models use highly precise discrete 24-bit A/D and D/A converters with outstanding noise floor and dynamic range.

Intelligent Dynamic Control for Full Transparency at Any Output Level

D-CONTOUR is an intelligent multiband compressor that ensures powerful and clear sound at any output level. It continuously monitors the output level of multiple frequency bands and calculates an optimal level for each. Even at maximum volume, the sound remains absolutely transparent and musical. The sound is finely tuned via two different settings—the FOH/Main and MONITOR modes. FOH/MAIN boosts low frequencies because the bass range typically suffers when speakers are flown or mounted on stands. MONITOR mode is ideal for stage monitoring. It dynamically attenuates low frequencies to prevent bass buildup caused by reflections between the transducer and nearby surfaces when speakers are placed on the floor. Across a wide range, frequency bands are smoothed, ensuring you always enjoy amazingly clear monitor sound. Both presets have been perfected through countless listening tests with experienced sound engineers. In short, you get a multiband compressor that provides a balanced, low-distortion sound at any output level thanks to its dynamic sound control.

Comprehensive DSP Protection Functions for Maximum Volume

In a typical system consisting of passive speakers, power amplifiers, and signal processors, trying to optimize parameters for each component can be a daunting task. One advantage of active speakers is that the combination of transducers and amplifiers can be perfectly optimized. During the development of the DZR, DXR mkII, DHR, DBR, and DXS series, Yamaha measured and tested the durability of individual transducers and the overall amplifier performance through countless listening tests indoors and outdoors. Based on these test results, the optimal limiting point for each model was set using precise DSP control.

In addition to optimal limiting, the speakers feature many of the same protection functions used in the professional PC-D series high-end power amplifiers. A microprocessor and a powerful DSP monitor the status of the power supply, amplifiers, transducers, and ongoing signals to protect every aspect of each component. This allows these speakers to reach their full potential and operate reliably even under the toughest conditions.

Highly Efficient Class-D Amplifiers with 1000 Watts

The lightweight Class-D high-power amplifiers can deliver up to 1000 watts depending on the model and produce up to 131 dB SPL (DHR15) without compromising transparency and dynamics (the DHR10 delivers 700 watts output power).

Internal 2-Channel Mixer with Easy Operation

The DHR series speakers have two input channels. CH1 features a combo jack that accepts both XLR and TRS plugs, allowing either microphone or line-level input signals. CH2 offers two input options: a combo jack accepting XLR or TRS plugs and a pair of RCA jacks for input from CD players or other stereo line-level sources.

An internal mixer allows you to either mix the signals of channels 1 and 2 with CH1+2 MIX or pass through only the signal from channel 1 with CH1 THRU.

Dual Pole Flange for Two Different Orientations

Depending on the venue, live sound can suffer under low ceilings or other unfavorable room characteristics. Achieving a clear, balanced mix becomes difficult, affecting the audience’s listening pleasure. The two flanges allow for two different orientations—0° and 7°. This keeps sound energy away from reflective surfaces and directs it where it belongs—onto the audience.
