Powerful Active Speaker from RCF!

The completely redesigned 3-way active speaker NX 985-A delivers outstanding audio quality for bands, DJs, clubs, and rental companies. The industry-leading combination of RCF premium transducers and a 2-channel amplifier with 2100 watts power ensures a consistent dispersion angle of 100° x 60° and distortion-free sound pressure levels up to 138 dB.

The 3-way design consists of a 1.75" neodymium compression driver with constant-directivity waveguide, an 8" midrange with cone diaphragm and phase-coherent waveguide, and a 15" high-performance woofer. Whether stand-alone, flown, or combined with the SUB 8008-AS subwoofer: the NX 985-A guarantees high SPLs across all frequency ranges with enormous sonic fidelity and reliability. The rugged, tour-ready enclosure made from premium plywood is easy to transport and can be securely installed thanks to integrated mounting points.

Top-Quality Transducers

The lightweight RCF drivers deliver impressive performance. To ensure maximum reliability and optimal synergy of all components, all transducers were developed by RCF engineers in Italy.

The 1.75-inch neodymium compression driver offers greater clarity and improved power handling at lower weight. The peak dome with polyamide-Kapton voice coil is extremely stable and low in distortion. The 8" high-performance midrange with cone diaphragm and constant-directivity waveguide provides detailed and vocal transparency in the mid-frequency band.

With its new advanced transducer design, the 15" high-performance woofer offers greater stability at high current levels, lower distortion, fast transient response, and improved heat dissipation.

Bass Motion Control

To achieve extended bass reproduction and more power, the development team replaced the standard high-pass filter with the groundbreaking BMC technology (Bass Motion Control), an innovative feature controlling woofer excursion. The BMC-equipped speaker handles even the lowest audible frequencies without compromising woofer stability—for a linear, extended bass range and balanced sound.

BMC is an algorithm that comprehensively analyzes the woofer’s dynamic behavior and restricts only excessive excursion based on these specific data. This allows complete freedom in signal reproduction by the transducer. Conventional high-pass filters aim to prevent woofer damage but also affect phase behavior. Thanks to the new BMC algorithm, this issue is now a thing of the past.

A New Perspective on Linearity

RCF speakers are developed based on proprietary advanced FIR filter technology, ensuring a transparent sound image, absolute clarity, and a perfect stereo field.

The special FiRPHASE filters enable uniform sound distribution for all listeners without phase distortion and with minimal latency throughout the system.

Tour-Ready Workhorse

The NX 985-A is a large-format FOH system for demanding applications. Due to its flexibility, it’s the perfect choice for a wide range of live sound uses. The robust enclosure, fully made from premium plywood, is easy to transport and equipped with ergonomic handles on both sides.

The speakers can be linked to expand coverage and alternatively flown or mounted on a truss using the six integrated M10 mounting points. With its sturdy enclosure, textured finish, and rugged front grille, the NX 985-A suits both permanent installations and intensive touring use.
