USB Audio Flexibility

The simple transfer of audio to and from a computer is a common requirement for live sound and music production today. The way this is implemented on the ZED is extremely flexible and easy to use! You no longer have to fumble around the back of your PC to access the soundcard inputs — only to find the levels are all wrong and too hot. Just connect a USB cable to your ZED, choose the USB routing on the mixer and select the device on your computer and you’re ready to go! CD-quality audio to and from your PC or Mac. Switches and jack connections offer different send/return configurations:

MusiQ

The ZED-16FX features an intuitive 3-band EQ design with a sweepable mid frequency that uses MusiQ — with an optimized slope (or Q factor) to balance individual instruments.

ZED-FX

The ZED-16FX offers a focused selection of 16 delay and modulation effects designed for small bands that don’t want to carry a separate effects unit but still demand high-quality effects for gigs and recordings. Our DSP engineers worked hard to develop and refine beautiful reverb algorithms to enhance every performance. These effects aren’t available elsewhere at this price — that quality and integration is unique to ZED-FX. ZED effects are controlled simply via 3 buttons and 9 indicator LEDs. For example, you can quickly dial in the ideal delay time or choose the perfect vocal reverb. One-handed navigation and editing — everything is as straightforward as using effect pedals.

DUOPRE

Based on the proven preamps from the highly successful PA series, the ZED-16FX features DuoPre preamps that use a two-stage design with carefully controlled gain at each stage. The gain range for the XLR input is very large — 69 dB to be exact — and it’s distributed evenly across the gain control, giving you finer level control. Most of the gain comes from the first stage, so unwanted noise is minimised. Line-level signals are simply fed to the second stage of the preamp via the line input jack. This has the big advantage of lower noise when using the line input and a higher input impedance.
