Dynamic Reference Microphone for Stage Applications!

The AKG D7 is an outstanding vocal microphone built for tough stage use. It handles very high signal levels without distortion (up to 156 dB). The AKG D7’s sound quality is exceptionally high thanks to the patented Varimotion diaphragm and even outperforms many condenser microphones.

Dynamic microphones often sound compressed and dull. AKG therefore developed a diaphragm that is thicker at the edge and thinner in the center. This significantly improves the diaphragm’s vibration and transient response. The sound becomes more transparent and the resolution more detailed. A slight boost in the mid and high frequencies also helps the voice cut through the mix.

The AKG D7 features a supercardioid polar pattern, making the microphone less sensitive to ambient noise and feedback. To protect the AKG D7 from interfering noises (e.g. from a guitar amplifier), a high-pass filter and a hum compensation coil are built in. They deliver a clean sound.

To reduce or avoid handling and cable noise, the microphone capsule is elastically mounted. Plosives and breath noises are effectively suppressed by the windscreen integrated into the microphone grille. The AKG D7’s housing is metal with a scratch-resistant finish, making it highly durable and robust.
