The Rode VideoMicro II is a brilliant “snapshot microphone”: compact (8 cm), featherlight (39 g), no battery needed, no controls or switches – just plug & play! Perfect for hobby filmmakers and content creators, but also appealing to professionals.
The robust full metal housing protects against interference. The included accessories are extensive: with two different windshields and connection cables, you’re equipped for almost any situation.
Despite its compact size, the VideoMicro II is a true shotgun mic with a supercardioid pattern and strong forward directionality. The pickup angle is about 45°. If you open both hands forward at a half right angle, you can clearly see which sound sources fall within the recording area. Side noise is effectively ignored.
The sound quality is top-notch – high output level, minimal self-noise, and a crystal-clear, completely uncolored audio signal.
Newly Developed Rode Shock Mount
Visually striking and highly effective is the new red HELIX Isomount shock mount, developed by Rode itself, which mechanically isolates the microphone to prevent handling noise. Part of the HELIX mount is the cold shoe, which slides the microphone into the camera’s hot shoe, and the knurled nut above secures it.
Embedded in the cold shoe is a 3/8" thread, allowing the microphone to be mounted on a tripod or boom pole.
High-Quality Accessories Included
The VideoMicro II is made by Rode in Sydney. To protect users from counterfeits, the red HELIX shock mount features a holographic RØDE logo on top.
Included are a foam windshield, the WS12 deluxe fur windshield, a premium 3.5 mm TRS to TRS flat cable (24 cm) for camera connection, and a Rode SC7 (3.5 mm TRS to TRRS coiled adapter cable) for smartphone connection.
