While the handcrafted capsule and the specially made output transformer for sE remain unchanged in the new sE2200 edition, the modern, more powerful electronics deliver top-level signal fidelity, an even shorter signal path, and even lower self-noise. sE continues to avoid integrated circuits and instead relies on proven Class-A technology with high-quality, discrete components. Modern surface-mounted parts enable authentic sound and even higher consistency and reliability than previous models. The distinctive design of the sE2200 and its outstanding sound remain unchanged.

The sE2200 is mainly used for voice and vocal recordings in the studio. However, it is increasingly employed for miking drums and electric guitars—even on stage. With its handcrafted large-diaphragm capsule, shielded output transformer, and discretely built Class-A circuitry, it offers refined sound, low self-noise, and a balanced frequency response, making it suitable for a wide range of applications.

The sE2200 features a fixed cardioid polar pattern. Nevertheless, like microphones with switchable polar patterns, it uses two gold-sputtered diaphragms to ensure the best possible sound quality.
