AKG C414 XLS Reference Multi-Pattern Condenser Microphone - A Legend Since 1971!

The multi-pattern condenser microphone C414 XLS offers nine polar patterns for perfect sound reproduction in any application. An LED peak indicator displays even the shortest overload peaks. For live sound and permanent installations, all controls can be easily disabled for hassle-free operation. The C414 XLS retains the sound characteristics of the legendary C414 B-ULS, the most popular AKG C414 version since 1971. It has been one of the most versatile large-diaphragm microphones for decades, designed for maximum linearity and neutral sound.

The AKG C414 XLS is a premium large-diaphragm condenser microphone for high-quality recordings. With its neutral, natural, and highly detailed sound, it is ideal for recording acoustic instruments and vocals. Acoustic guitars, string instruments, and grand pianos especially benefit from its excellent transmission characteristics. It is virtually noise-free and offers a wide dynamic range. Quiet passages are captured transparently and with nuance.

But even loud drum recordings sound clean thanks to the high max SPL. This makes it especially suitable as an overhead or room microphone. For sound sources with very high levels, sensitivity can be reduced in three steps. If overloads do occur, they are reliably indicated by the LED. Even the shortest signal peaks are detected, making level monitoring easier.

The gold-sputtered dual diaphragm offers excellent transient response and 5 polar patterns: omnidirectional, cardioid, wide cardioid, hypercardioid, and figure-8. Additionally, four intermediate settings can be selected. The current setting is shown via an LED. The proximity effect can be compensated with three switchable high-pass filters. Low-frequency noise can also be easily removed. To prevent accidental misuse, all controls on the microphone can be locked. Stored settings remain saved even after phantom power is switched off.

Thanks to its great sonic flexibility, the microphone adapts perfectly to all recording situations: from an open, spacious sound image to focusing on solo instruments that need to be separated from the environment.
The microphone comes in a metal case with elastic mount, pop filter, windscreen, and dust bag.
