Basically, you can just let the device run and you’ll immediately get a great light show. At first, I was skeptical—I wondered if the Maestro wasn’t just doing the same thing as devices in normal “sound-to-light” mode. But no! It’s not comparable at all.
All the movements are pleasantly smooth and jerk-free. The color and strobe effects are also truly outstanding. It would probably take weeks to program all the patterns yourself.
My only slight disappointment is that the movements of the individual axes can’t be controlled independently of the selected color scheme. Given the device’s overall performance, however, that’s just a minor criticism for me.
I’ve even bought a second Maestro in the meantime. In my opinion, there’s hardly anything better, especially for rental: just plug it in, select fixtures, start programs, or put together a show from different programs—and you’re good to go.
For my various setups, I’ve simply saved different stage configurations. Depending on the job, I just load the appropriate stage, and the show is ready to go.
