The ATH-R50x drivers were developed based on the drivers of the original ATH-R70x and tuned to provide surprisingly powerful bass for an open headphone and highly precise upper mids – giving clear, punchy vocals and lead instruments without compromising the balanced overall presentation.

Crucial to this natural sound with a full audio spectrum is the 100% open-back enclosure concept, which leaves the drivers’ direct sound unaffected. Without additional acoustic measures, the ATH-R50x delivers dynamic, detailed reproduction with powerful low end and realistic imaging. In addition, the fully open enclosure offers more comfort than closed models – comfort that is further enhanced by the newly designed headband and the lightweight, durable overall construction.

100% Open Reference Headphone

With fully open headphones the sound depends solely on driver performance, and every diaphragm movement is converted directly into sound.

The ATH-R50x’s open concept allows unrestricted airflow, effectively preventing distortion or emphasized frequency bands. On a 100% open headphone the sound therefore comes uncoloured and directly from the transducer – for an especially authentic listening experience.
