Looking for either a preamp or a mixer with at least three stereo line inputs, USB and XLR outputs to connect to a pair of powered speakers, I came across the Numark.
All the other units I found that would have fit into the above requirements are significantly more expensive.
For what it can and does, it's surprisingly large and heavy compared to, say, the Yamaha MG-10 XU, which I also own. The metal housing looks very solid, the controls for gain and equalizer also make a good impression. The sliders for the channel and master levels, on the other hand, are cheap, wobbly and I'm sure pretty dusty, hence only 4 stars.
Oh yes, and the appearance is certainly not conducive to anyone but me to listen to music in the living room purpose; but that must of course know each :-)
