The SW5E Connection!
The PreSonus SW5E AVB switch securely links five AVB ports with locking XLR-Ethercon jacks. This, combined with its rugged construction, makes the SW5E the top choice for live sound systems. With the network connection/activity indicators you can confirm that network data is being transmitted properly.

What Is an AVB Network?
Audio networking is much more than just the ability to connect digital devices. With an AVB network you can connect digital audio devices over long distances using CAT5e or CAT6 Ethercon cables and route your audio around the network with extremely low latency. AVB offers several unique advantages that make it a better choice for audio than other network protocols. For example, AVB provides a highly accurate clock that significantly reduces harmonic distortion and phase issues, helping your sound stay clear and clean. AVB also ensures you always have enough bandwidth to deliver your audio with low latency—even if your intern starts streaming a movie. These important benefits are built into AVB; you don’t need to do anything special for your devices or AVB switches. And you can only get them with AVB.
PoE: Remote Power for Networked Devices
Power over Ethercon (PoE) is a technology that lets network cables deliver power to compatible devices. With PoE a single cable carries both network data such as digital audio and power. You can place a PoE-capable device anywhere you can run an Ethercon cable, since you don't need a local power source. Four of the five ports on the SW5E can supply PoE, a rare feature in the current generation of AVB switches. The fifth port of the SW5E is non-PoE, which is useful for linking additional switches to build a larger network.
Rugged Enough for Live Sound
Live sound gigs require a lot of gear, and if your network fails the show could be over. That's why the SW5E is built to withstand the harsh demands of live performance and deliver reliable operation every time. In addition to the rugged, locking XLR-Ethercon connectors, the SW5E is housed in a tough all-metal enclosure and can be mounted in a rack (not included). The unit also uses an internal power supply with a standard IEC connector — no clumsy "wall-wart" adapter that could easily come loose.
A Great Networking Solution for StudioLive Digital Mixers
Paired with digital StudioLive mixers, an SW5E AVB switch enables many powerful setups. Use an SW5E to network StudioLive Series III consoles or to connect a StudioLive AI console with a StudioLive RML rack mixer (as a stagebox). Place an SW5E at the center of your network to link a StudioLive RML rack mixer with a StudioLive CS18AI control surface. You can even cascade two StudioLive RML mixers to create a larger system by connecting them with AVB and an SW5E.
You can also use the SW5E to connect devices that aren't PreSonus AVB-certified. As long as the product complies with the AVB specification, it will work with the SW5E.
