The ToP-ART concept (Total Purity Audio Reproduction Technology) guarantees excellent sound in combination with the ART Base. Only when both the processing and transmission of audio signals are designed to be simple and direct is the influence of noise and distortion minimized. Yamaha's technology for this amplifier design is called ToP-ART. It consists of a fully symmetrical layout from input to output, with left and right channels processed via the shortest possible signal paths. This ensures outstanding sound with uncolored clarity. The ART (Anti-Resonance and Tough) Base housing bottom and solid center rail provide additional stability and dampen vibrations. These Yamaha design innovations further contribute to excellent audio playback with outstanding musicality.

The quality of individual parts and their interaction are crucial for the sound of any component. That’s why Yamaha uses only premium components, carefully selected and tested. The A-S501 guarantees excellent signal reproduction even under demanding conditions – the power transformer and blocking capacitors are custom-made, the speaker relays have a direct signal path, plus there’s single-point grounding and extruded aluminum heat sinks.

Pure Direct Mode for Uncolored, Pure Sound

When Pure Direct mode is activated, the signal bypasses circuits for bass and treble control, balance, and amplifier buffer. This improves sound quality without affecting maximum output power. Shortening the signal path increases acoustic purity and allows reproduction of even the finest musical nuances.

Continuously Adjustable Loudness

The A-S501 features a new analog loudness control located on the front panel. It uses electronic volume control for the highest sound quality, allowing the loudness effect to be adjusted as desired. Separate from the normal volume control, it can influence the balance between highs and lows. This makes the full tonal range available and compensates for the natural hearing loss of high and low frequencies at low volume.

Gold-Plated Connections

Gold-plated connections ensure a particularly high-quality connection that prevents signal loss. The A-S501 features gold-plated speaker terminals and RCA (CD, Phono) and coaxial inputs.

Digital Audio Inputs for TV and/or Blu-ray Player

The A-S501 has both an optical and a coaxial digital input. The optical input is for TV audio, the coaxial for Blu-ray player audio. The signal remains digital throughout, ensuring pure, dynamic sound from all sources – from sports and other TV broadcasts to movies and concert recordings.

Connection for a YBA-11 Bluetooth Wireless Adapter

With the YBA-11, you can stream music wirelessly from Bluetooth®-compatible smartphones, tablets, or PCs. Thanks to digital connection and the aptX algorithm, you enjoy music streaming in the best sound quality. The YBA-11 can be conveniently powered via the DC output on the back of the amplifier.

Connections for Two Speaker Systems and Choice Between Speaker A, B, or A+B

You can connect two separate speaker systems in different rooms and switch between them or operate both simultaneously. Four connections are available, so you can select the right speaker pair for the respective source with the push of a button.

A rotary knob makes selecting the input source simple and fast. The high-quality material with hairline finish offers a pleasant tactile feel. The selected source is indicated by LEDs, so switching between players is easy even in dark rooms.

Auto Standby Function

The amplifier’s power-saving function detects when it hasn’t been used for a while (about 8 hours) even though it’s switched on. In this case, the device automatically switches to standby mode – minimizing power consumption if the amplifier was accidentally left on.
