The L-00 was first introduced in 1932 and remains the most famous and popular acoustic model with a small body in Gibson's storied history. The new L-00 Special is crafted by Gibson’s skilled luthiers in Bozeman, Montana, offering players a USA-made Gibson acoustic guitar at a very attractive price. The L-00 Special features genuine solid mahogany back and sides and a solid Sitka spruce top with our traditional scalloped X-bracing for a balanced tone with excellent dynamic range for a small-body acoustic guitar. Both the top and back are bound with single-ply binding around the edges.

The narrower waist of the L-00 body shape delivers a focused and nuanced sound, giving it a slimmer and tighter bass response that fits perfectly in the mix. The tone is ideal for fingerstyle and blues and also works very well for other genres and playing styles. The practical neck is joined to the body with a dovetail joint and, as with all Gibson acoustics, is glued with hot hide glue. The neck features a comfortable and fast-playing SlimTaper profile, and the rosewood fretboard has a 12" radius with simple mother-of-pearl dot inlays and 19 standard frets. The rectangular rosewood bridge with a closed slot is equipped with a TUSQ saddle, and both the saddle and bridge pins are made of TUSQ. Smooth-turning Grover Mini Rotomatic tuners provide solid tuning stability. The L-00 Special is finished in satin nitrocellulose lacquer in Satin Vintage Sunburst or Satin Wine Red. It comes equipped with an active L.R. Baggs Element Bronze piezo pickup under the saddle and an active preamp with an easily accessible volume control at the soundhole, making it stage- and studio-ready right out of the included premium soft shell case.
