Gibson L-00 Original Vintage Sunburst

Gibson L-00 Original - Compact Acoustic Tradition With History!

Gibson's history with small-body acoustic guitars stretches back to the early L-Series models of the 20th century. As early as Gibson's 1934 catalog, the special balance of these instruments was highlighted. The L-00 Original from the Original Collection picks up that tradition and blends compact dimensions with an articulate response, a balanced tonal character and the distinct acoustic profile that Gibson's small body shapes have been prized for over decades. At the same time the instrument stays clearly rooted in its historical line while offering contemporary amplification for stage and studio.

Compact L-00 Body With Classic Wood Combination

The Sitka spruce top meets back and sides of mahogany. Inside, traditional scalloped X-bracing supports the resonance and response of the compact body. A single-ply binding on the top and back visually frames the instrument and, with its lightly aged look, gives a deliberately historic character. The glossy nitrocellulose finish fits seamlessly into this classic styling and underlines the instrument's kinship with Gibson's traditional acoustics.

SlimTaper Neck and Selected Vintage Details

The mahogany neck features Gibson's SlimTaper profile and is joined to the body via a compound dovetail joint. The rosewood fretboard with a 12" radius carries classic mother-of-pearl dot inlays. A bone nut and Nickel Golden Age tuners complete the traditional headstock appointments. The white Gibson script follows the historical styling and reinforces the deliberately vintage-inspired direction of the L-00 Original.

Traditional Construction Down to the Bridge

A rectangular closed-slot rosewood bridge forms the basis of the string anchoring. Gibson pairs it with a bone saddle and TUSQ bridge pins. Together with the classic L-00 pickguard, the aged binding and the Golden Age tuners, this creates a coherent concept in which the details reference the model's traditional appearance and construction.

Baggs HiFi DNA for Amplified Use

For stage and studio the L-00 Original is equipped with Gibson's exclusive Baggs HiFi DNA pickup system. Two lightweight sensors are mounted to the internal bridge plate and each works with a specially tuned preamp. The system is designed to reproduce the guitar's acoustic character and playing dynamics as authentically as possible when amplified, without affecting the unplugged tone. According to Gibson, the feedback resistance is on a level comparable to undersaddle systems. Volume and tone are controlled via discreet knobs placed in the soundhole. The included hardshell case rounds off the compact Gibson's equipment for transport, studio and live use.
