Die AEG, eine kompakte elektrische Akustikgitarre mit schmalem Hals, ist seit mehr als zwei Jahrzehnten für ihre leichte Spielbarkeit bekannt. Das AEG50 startet mit einem neuen Vorverstärker, einem Ibanez AEQ-TTS. Der kleine und einfache Vorverstärker hat nur zwei Regler, Lautstärke und Shape. Diese Tonsteuerung bietet in der Mittelstellung einen natürlichen akustischen Klang. Mit dieser Funktion können die Spieler den Klang auf einfache Weise einstellen und mit nur einem Knopf von niedrigen, fetten und kräftigen Tönen zu einem hellen und klaren Klang wechseln. Am Vorverstärker befindet sich ein neuer, gut lesbarer Onboard-Tuner mit LCD.
Weitere Merkmale sind eine Fichtendecke und Sapele- Boden und Zargen, ein Ibanez T-Bar II-Untersaddle-Tonabnehmer, der die Lautstärke jeder Saite ausgleicht und ein ausgewogenes Signal liefert, sowie spezielle birnenförmige Ibanez Advantage Bridge-Stöckel für einfaches Saitenwechseln.
