The EVH 5150 Iconic Series meets the needs of guitarists seeking the powerful EVH tube tone for gigs and recordings, but at a more affordable price. The Iconic Series is an evolution of the revered EVH 5150III amps, delivering the cutting sound and snarling gain that made Eddie Van Halen famous during his groundbreaking career.

The 5150 Iconic Series 80W Head was designed by renowned amp technician James Brown and is powered by four 6L6 power tubes. The complex, multi-stage hybrid preamp section anchored by a pair of ECC83 tubes offers all the firepower a modern guitarist needs in an easy-to-use format.

Each channel features its own gain and volume control, allowing you to adjust the level when switching between the clean and high-gain channels. The second channel’s fast noise gate suppresses any hiss, ensuring all staccato riffs sound clear and tight, not choppy. The boost control lets you raise your tone by an additional 10 dB—perfect for making sure your solos cut through the mix. The panel also includes a shared EQ (Low, Mid, and High), global resonance and presence controls to shape the low and high-end aspects of your tone, plus a global reverb control to add just the right amount of bounce and decay for any room.

Additional features include a two-button footswitch, effects loop, two parallel speaker outputs, a quarter-power switch for power reduction so you can crank the amp without disturbing your neighbors, and a DI output with speaker emulation and power amp mute for a precise EVH tube tone you can record directly or run through a PA system.

The 5150 Iconic Series 80-Watt amp is wrapped in black or ivory textured vinyl, with a brushed aluminum front panel and a black steel grille featuring silver and black 5150 and EVH logo badges. The top is equipped with vintage-style chickenhead knobs, a red LED jewel indicator, and a black plastic handle.

Two channels deliver pure tube power that can excel in any genre. The green channel features an overdrive knob that ranges from rich cleans to boosted gain, while the red channel’s burn knob delivers fiery crunch for blazing leads.

Take Control

The comprehensive control layout lets you shape your sound. Independently adjust volume and gain for channels 1 and 2 to balance levels. Channel 2 includes a noise gate control that suppresses hiss and ensures all staccato riffs sound clear and tight. Shared EQ controls let you set low, mid, and high frequencies. A global presence control gives full command over the ultra-high frequencies, while the global resonance control adjusts the low-end frequency response of the power amp. The boost control lets you raise your tone by an additional 10 dB footswitchable volume boost.
