The EVH 5150 Iconic Series meets the needs of gigging and recording guitarists craving the powerful EVH tube tone at a more affordable price. The Iconic Series is an evolution of the revered EVH 5150III amps, delivering the cutting sound and snarling gain that made Eddie Van Halen famous during his groundbreaking career.

The 5150 Iconic Series 80W Head was designed by renowned amp engineer James Brown and is powered by four EL34 power tubes. A complex, multi-stage hybrid preamp section anchored by a pair of ECC83 tubes delivers all the firepower the modern guitarist needs in an easy-to-use format.

This head features two channels, each with an additional voicing for even more versatility. The green channel has an overdrive knob that ranges from rich clean tones to boosted gain, while the red channel’s burn knob adds a fiery crunch perfect for blazing leads.

Each channel has its own gain and volume controls, allowing you to balance volume when switching between clean and high-gain channels. The second channel’s noise gate suppresses any hiss, ensuring all staccato riffs sound clear and tight, not chopped up. The boost control lets you raise your tone by an additional 10 dB—ideal for making sure your solos cut through the mix. The control panel also includes a shared EQ (Low, Mid, and High), global resonance and presence controls to shape the low and high-end aspects of your tone, plus a global reverb control to dial in the perfect amount of bounce and decay for any room.

Additional features include a two-button footswitch, effects loop, two parallel speaker outputs, a 1/4 power switch to reduce wattage—so you can crank the amp while keeping your tone without disturbing your neighbors—and a speaker-emulated DI XLR output with power amp mute for accurate EVH tube tone in direct recording or PA use.

The 5150 Iconic Series 80-watt head is wrapped in black textured vinyl, sports a brushed gold-anodized aluminum front panel, and a black steel grille with gold and black 5150 and EVH logo badges. The head is equipped with vintage-style chicken-head knobs, a red LED jewel indicator, and a molded black plastic handle.
