Hiwatt Custom 20 Combo

Uncompromising British Performance!

The so-called Custom 20 circuit from Hiwatt is not only known for the brand's typical, clear clean tones, it also delivers rich, harmonically complex overdrive textures when you crank the amp. The twin EL84 power section enables both those clean and overdriven sounds — including every shade in between — at practical volume levels. It's an easy-to-use amplifier that can be driven into natural compression and overdrive via the guitar's controls and your playing dynamics. In this way, Hiwatt offers an alternative, characterful voice beyond the classic clean tone.

For 2025 the circuit was revised: newly added are a Bright switch and an additional Gain Boost, giving the player even more control over the sound. The Bright switch can add sparkling highs to the clean tones at lower volumes or tighten the gain tones at higher volumes. The Gain Boost works with both the High and Low inputs and acts as a natural amp boost, adding extra harmonic richness to the preamp. Both new controls interact with the high- and low-impedance inputs, enabling new tonal variations compared with earlier Custom 20 models.

The Custom 20 Combo is fitted with a Fane F25 12" speaker that delivers cutting mids and a tight crunch — all in a portable format.
