The EVH 5150 Iconic Series meets the needs of gigging and recording guitarists craving the powerful EVH tube tone at a more affordable price. The Iconic Series is an evolution of the EVH 5150III amps, delivering the cutting sound and snarling gain that made Eddie Van Halen famous during his groundbreaking career.

The 5150 Iconic Series 40-Watt 1x12 Combo was designed by renowned amp engineer James Brown. It’s powered by two EL34 power tubes and features a complex, multi-stage hybrid preamp section anchored by a pair of ECC83 tubes, giving the modern guitarist the necessary punch. The cabinet is made of MDF with a special plywood veneer that ensures tight and enhanced bass response, housing a custom EVH 12" Celestion speaker designed specifically for this preamp circuit, so the uncolored cleans and piercing high-gain tones are tight, clear, and articulate.

This outstanding combo offers two channels, each with an additional voicing for even more versatility. The green channel features an overdrive knob that lets you switch from clean tones to boosted gain, while the red channel’s burn knob adds a fiery crunch perfect for blazing leads. Each channel has its own gain and volume controls, allowing you to balance volume when switching between clean and high-gain channels. The second channel’s noise gate suppresses any hiss, ensuring all staccato riffs sound clear and defined, not choppy or clipped. The boost control lets you raise your tone by an additional 10 dB—perfect for making sure your solos cut through the mix.

The control panel also includes a shared EQ (low, mid, and high), global resonance and presence controls to shape the low- and high-end aspects of your tone, plus a global reverb knob to dial in the perfect amount of bounce and decay for any room. Other features include a two-button footswitch, effects loop, two parallel speaker outputs, a ¼-power switch to reduce wattage—so you can crank the amp while keeping the tone without disturbing your neighbors—and a speaker-emulated DI XLR output with power amp mute for accurate EVH tube tone in direct recording or PA use.
