Offered in classic EL34 design and a 6L6 model with more gain, these amps are easy to use yet extremely versatile. Developed after months of forensic study of vintage tube amps, the intuitive two-channel setup delivers our best cleans and overdrives without compromise.
Why "St. James"?
St. James is one of Northampton’s oldest districts. It was home to a 12th-century abbey that gave the area its name and hosts the Northampton Saints, the venue of the world-class rugby team, along with the iconic elevator tower dominating the skyline.

- The universal power supply is lightweight and can be used worldwide from 90V to 264V 50/60Hz.
- The built-in reactive load and professional connections make St. James perfect for quiet stages.
- Each channel uses completely separate EQ circuits. This is achieved by switching potentiometers with two control levels, meaning there’s no tonal compromise between channels, even with shared EQ controls.
- The Sag setting creates a stronger "power sag" to emphasize the crucial amp compression, giving a softer, more "vintage" feel.
- Cab Rig overcomes the limitations of IR "snapshots" by using state-of-the-art digital processing to reproduce the sound and feel of a miked guitar cabinet in incredible detail.
- Over 250 microphone and cabinet combinations can be stored in one of three memory slots.
- Each cab offers a choice of microphone type and axis, as well as room mics and master EQ. Use the free Architect software for a wide range of additional options.

- EL34 models: Classic low-gain amp with a +10dB clean boost ranging from 'chimey' to 'creamy' and much more.
- 6L6 models: Classic US clean and modern high-gain amp, with a voice switch for more saturation and a looser feel with plenty of resonant "chug" in the low end.
- The St. James preserves the essence of a traditional tube amp; especially through the use of preamp and power tubes, as well as the "Sag" control of the output transformer.
- The patented design uses a unique combination of a switched mode power supply (SMPS) that drives a true tube amplifier (tubes in preamp and power amp), a reactive load, and advanced DSP for XLR and headphone outputs.
- The built-in reactive load allows you to use the tubes without a connected speaker. Perfect for recording or "silent stage" use.
- Includes Cab Rig, the next-generation DSP speaker simulator that reproduces the sound and feel of a miked guitar cabinet in incredible detail. Experience amazing sounds via USB/XLR output or headphones with the free software.
- The power reduction switch lets you choose between 50 watts, 2 watts, or Sag to find the perfect balance of power and response for any situation, whether studio or stage.
- Exclusive Celestion Zephyr lightweight speaker. In close collaboration with Celestion, Blackstar developed a unique lightweight speaker using a traditional ferrite magnet. Based on the "soft parts" and intonation of a Vintage 30, the Zephyr delivers enormous sonic performance but at a fraction of the weight of a standard guitar amp speaker.
