The Katana-Artist MkII Head features all the essential functions of its successful combo counterpart. The five distinct amp characters plus five variations provide ten different core sounds. At the same time, you can use five effect categories simultaneously and shape your tones like with a massive pedalboard. In the BOSS Tone Studio, you can customize the built-in effects with over 60 different types and tweak individual effect parameters in detail until you find your personal dream sound.

Loud and Proud

Connecting one or two external speaker cabinets delivers massive, expansive sounds that let you take command of the stage. The Katana Cabinet 212 Waza is perfectly tuned to the Katana-Artist MkII and offers an outstanding rock sound with its 2x12" setup featuring Waza Custom speakers. These BOSS-developed speakers impress with authentic response and a tonal character reminiscent of a British 25W stack speaker from the 1960s — all at a power consumption of 100 watts. By stacking cabinets, you can build a clean 4x12 setup. The versatile design also includes a removable back panel, allowing you to play the cabinet as either closed- or open-back.

Precise Sound Tools

The front panel offers exclusive features unique to the Katana-Artist MkII models. The 3-way contour switch lets you tailor the amp’s core sound. The three global EQ settings are perfect for fine-tuning the overall tone in combination with different guitars and styles. Additionally, a solo boost function (post power amp) with footswitch control is available. A front-panel knob lets you quickly and effectively adjust your solo sound. In the BOSS Tone Studio, you can assign delay and EQ exclusively to the solo boost.

Integrated Dual-Amp Support

With powerful expansion features, you can easily play on two Katana-Artist MkII amps simultaneously. Dual Link lets you set each amp independently and control both with a single GA-FC or GA-FC EX foot controller. This lets you blend clean and distorted sounds, create wet/dry setups, and more. In Stereo Expand mode, one Katana-Artist MkII acts as the primary amp, distributing integrated stereo effects like chorus, delay, and reverb across both amps to create a wide, immersive soundscape.

Based on the BOSS Tube Logic approach, the Katana-Artist MkII Head produces the characteristic output distortion of real tube amps. The louder you turn it up, the thicker the sound and the more dynamic the response. Unlike classic tube models, you can exploit the sweet spot even at low volumes thanks to our variable power control—without getting kicked out by the venue or your neighbors. At the midpoint, you get half the total power. In the BOSS Tone Studio, you can adjust the power control in 10-watt steps until power and volume meet your needs.

Instant Access to Your Custom Setups

Internal tone setting memory slots let you save individual channel setups and effect combinations for immediate recall. After dialing in your sounds via the front panel controls, you can store them with a button press on any memory slot. You get eight sound settings total (two banks of four settings each) that you can quickly select via the front interface. To control the Katana-Artist MkII hands-free during a gig, simply connect external footswitches or the GA-FC/GA-FC EX foot controller.

Mix-Ready Sounds

The Katana-Artist MkII Head offers miked speaker emulations on its line, USB, and headphones/recording outputs to send mix-ready amp tones to a PA, DAW, or headphones. Shape the sound via selectable Air-Feel settings on the rear panel, including three preset options plus space for two custom presets you can edit in the BOSS Tone Studio. The amp’s USB connection transmits two audio channels, allowing you to record true stereo sound including the built-in modulation, EQ, delay, and reverb effects.

Compact Gig Control Center

The optional GA-FC and GA-FC EX foot controllers are perfect partners for the Katana-Artist MkII Head. They connect with a single cable, require no external power, and take up minimal space. The six footswitches let you recall sound settings and toggle the five effect sections on and off. They also support external footswitches and expression pedals, which can be customized via BOSS Tone Studio. The GA-FC offers standard control, while the advanced GA-FC EX lets you control two amps simultaneously, connect an additional device for extra foot control, and much more.
