Les Paul Custom Tradition With a Standout Presence!

The Epiphone Les Paul Custom from the Inspired by Gibson Custom series combines the classic construction of the storied Custom model with a striking, consistently coordinated design. Since its introduction in 1954, the Les Paul Custom has represented the more lavishly appointed side of the Les Paul concept. Characteristic features like block inlays, the split-diamond motif on the headstock, and extensive binding directly echo this heritage. In this version, color-matched bindings on the body and headstock and specially executed headstock inlays create a distinct accent, while chrome hardware keeps the overall look clean and modern.

Classic Les Paul Construction

Beneath the elaborate finish, a proven wood combination of a solid mahogany body and a maple top does the work. The one-piece mahogany neck is glued in with a long neck tenon and features a Modern Medium C profile. This construction follows the later Les Paul Custom build where the maple top complements the mahogany body. The bound ebony fretboard with mother-of-pearl block inlays continues the traditional Custom aesthetic. The headstock also references key design elements of the historic original with its Gibson open-book shape, split-diamond inlay, and multi-layer binding.

Gibson USA Humbuckers and High-Quality Electronics

On the electric side, two Gibson USA humbuckers are used: a 490R at the neck and a 498T at the bridge. This pairing covers the classic Les Paul range from warm, sustaining neck tones to punchy, present bridge sounds. The pickups are hand-wired and controlled via two volume and two tone knobs. CTS potentiometers, Mallory capacitors, and Switchcraft components for the pickup switch and output jack underline the thoroughly traditional construction of the electronics.

Custom-Style Hardware

A LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge teams with a LockTone stop bar tailpiece. Grover Rotomatic tuners and a Graph Tech nut round out the appointments. The chrome-plated hardware provides a deliberate contrast to the elaborately bound Les Paul Custom construction. Together with the characteristic speed knobs and the black pickguard, the design language remains firmly rooted in the classic Custom family, while the special visual details of this version give it an independent character.
