The versatile tonal range, outstanding playability, and last but not least the aesthetic exterior have secured the Hagstrom Viking a top spot in the pantheon of semi-acoustic guitar legends. The Super Viking superbly continues this tradition, incorporating essential features of the Super Swede based on the Viking platform.

A key feature is the long scale length of the sister model at 648 mm/25.5". Drop tunings, bursting with brilliance and responsiveness, are a home game for the Super Viking and invite you to explore further musical styles with a powerful foundation. The tonal spectrum of the Super Viking is decisively shaped by the specially developed semi-hollow H-50C humbuckers. These can be individually coil-split to single-coil operation via the tone pots, encouraging you to discover new sonic worlds. The flamed maple body of the Super Viking is perfectly complemented by particularly tasteful finish options.

H-Expander

All Hagstrom electric guitars and basses are equipped with our patented H-Expander truss rod. The stiff yet lightweight rod made from an alloy, tensioned at both ends and running the full length of the neck, allows for very low action and a slim neck—two factors that have significantly contributed to Hagstrom’s reputation as the fastest-playing guitar in the world. The H-Expander truss rod not only offers ultimate neck stability but also contributes to Hagstrom’s unique tone. Longer sustain and a rounded attack are some of the tonal characteristics the H-Expander adds to the Hagstrom sound.

Resinator Wood

Resinator wood is a pressure-laminated composite material that features a denser and more stable structure than standard woods. These properties prevent so-called "dead spots" or "wolf notes" that can occur with some conventional fretboard materials. Resinator wood delivers a similarly articulated tonal response as high-quality ebony, without the unwanted side effects. Resinator offers the player a stable, clear tone, full of overtones and detailed projection on single notes. Like our H-Expander truss rod, Resinator wood is an essential part of the characteristic Hagstrom sound.

Hagstrom Tuners & Trapeze Tailpiece

Hagstrom models use tuners with a gear ratio of 18:1 or 15:1, based on our own designs to ensure precise tuning. The basses in the Viking and HB series feature tuners with a 17:1 ratio.

The classic Viking trapeze tailpiece design is a work of art in itself. Just below the upper part where the two beautifully curved bars meet, there is a string claw for easy access and super comfortable string changes. Adorned with the legendary Hagstrom crest, this is truly the definition of elegance.

Set Neck

Hagstrom uses a variety of neck joints in our range. Our neck joint is the classic and proven mortise-and-tenon construction, a design that transfers string energy from the neck to the body most efficiently and is often only found on more expensive, custom guitars. A team of experienced and dedicated craftsmen hand-carves each neck joint to ensure the perfect execution of this traditional technique, favored by luthiers for generations.
