Gibson ES-335 Reissue Hollowbody Electric Guitar in Vintage Burst Including Case!

The Gibson ES-335 is one of the greatest guitar designs of all time. It’s renowned for its extraordinary versatility and has been used by countless musicians across a wide range of genres. By combining the best elements of solidbody and thinline hollowbody designs, it’s a highly resonant guitar that resists feedback much better than a fully hollow chamber guitar thanks to its inner solid maple center block.

Now Epiphone proudly presents, in collaboration with Gibson Custom, the 1962 ES-335 Reissue, a guitar heavily inspired by Gibson Custom’s ES-335 offerings but deliberately based on a model year that Gibson Custom currently does not reissue – 1962, a year that featured popular traits like rounded cutaways, small block inlays, and a fast-playing, slim neck profile on the Gibson ES-335.

The Epiphone 1962 ES-335 Reissue features a semi-hollow, five-ply laminated maple/poplar body with rounded cutaways and a solid maple center block for outstanding sustain and feedback resistance. The one-piece mahogany neck has a thin 1960s-style SlimTaper C-profile and is fitted with a rosewood fretboard equipped with 22 medium-jumbo frets and small mother-of-pearl block inlays. The fretboard has rounded edges that provide a comfortable, broken-in feel inviting hours of exploration. Even the side dot markers match the size of the vintage 1962 ES-335 models and are placed at historically accurate positions.

The Gibson-style headstock with the Epiphone logo and Gibson crown is equipped with smooth-turning Epiphone Deluxe tuners featuring double-ring keystone-style buttons and a Graph Tech nut. An ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge and a Gibson historic reissue aluminum stop bar tailpiece anchor the strings at the other end directly into the solid maple center block, contributing to the excellent sustain of the 1962 ES-335.

The electronics consist of two US-made Gibson Custombucker humbuckers wired by hand to CTS potentiometers and Black Beauty paper-in-oil capacitors, delivering the authentic tonal versatility of the ES-335. This makes the 1962 ES-335 Reissue a fantastic choice for rock, blues, jazz, country, and much more.

The Sixties Cherry and Vintage Burst finishes feature a vintage gloss that gives them a cool vintage vibe. A black vintage-style hard shell case with a gold interior lining and an Inspired by Gibson Custom exterior design is also included to safely store and transport this beautiful 1962 ES-335 Reissue.

The guitar came perfectly set up, which I have only ever experienced with Session. Kirstein seems to have the same philosophy. Which makes me want to buy from Kirstein, especially for an expensive product. After having bought a 1959 ES 355 of this series, which is also very nice, I gladly opted for the 1963 es 355, which has an even more playable neck. The pickups are original Gibson and sound the same. The wood finish and varnish are impeccable. The case is a unique selling point in this price range. There are 2 small minus points: 01. the smell of the case smells like the entire cheap range from the Far East. It had to be aired out first, but it is still a high-quality case. 02. the edges of the waistband are slightly sharp-edged, but not annoying. Fender usually does this better for over 1000 euros. Nevertheless, an extremely fretless, perfectly adjusted guitar with case. Maybe I'll buy another one from the series if there's another really unusual color .
