This 1965 Stratocaster is part of the Fender Custom Shop's limited 2024 Fall Event collection and pairs the unmistakable '65 vibe with a range of carefully selected Custom Shop details. The two-piece alder body meets a roasted quartersawn maple neck and a round-lam fingerboard made from selected AAA rosewood. It's the neck that makes this edition especially interesting: the roasted quartersawn construction expands the historical concept with its own distinct specification, while the fingerboard binding and mother-of-pearl inlays give the Stratocaster an unusually elegant character.

A '65 Concept With an Especially Elaborate Neck

The '65 Strat C profile is the centerpiece of the playing feel on this model. You’ll also find the small Stratocaster headstock, an early-'60s truss rod and vintage tuners with the Fender logo. The round-lam fingerboard made from AAA rosewood is framed by a parchment binding and carries large mother-of-pearl dots. This combination clearly sets the instrument apart from a conventionally equipped Stratocaster, while keeping the connection to the underlying 1965 Stratocaster concept firmly in view.

Three Fender Custom Shop hand-wound Vintage '65 Strat single coils form the electric backbone. The middle pickup is specified as RWRP. The set is controlled via a 5-way switch and Fender Strat Vintage Modified Wiring #2. This gives the instrument not just a historically inspired pickup set, but a deliberately composed Custom Shop configuration that continues the Limited Edition’s character on the electronic side as well.

Deluxe Closet Classic Down To The Last Detail

The Deluxe Closet Classic finish gives the Stratocaster a deliberately aged character that is more restrained compared to heavier relic levels. Nitrocellulose is part of the finish concept; the neck is finished in light-tint nitrocellulose and even the three-ply '63-'76 Stratocaster pickguard follows the Nitro Closet Classic specification. Closet Classic hardware, the vintage Stratocaster tremolo and the aged control components carry this concept consistently across the entire instrument.
