Epiphone and the Gibson Custom Shop have teamed up again to develop the Inspired by Gibson Custom 1963 Firebird I - an authentic replica of the guitar designed by legendary car designer Ray Dietrich. When the "Firebird" 1963 was launched, it was Gibson's first model with a through-neck and was used by players across various genres, including blues legend Johnny Winter, Keith Richards and Brian Jones of the Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, and Phil Manzanera of Roxy Music, to name just a few.
The Epiphone Inspired by Gibson Custom 1963 Firebird V offers classic Firebird specs at an affordable price, including a 9-piece neck made of mahogany and walnut with mahogany body wings on both sides. Kluson "Banjo-Style" tuners anchor the strings at the headstock, while an Epiphone ABR bridge and a redesigned Maestro Vibrola with engraved Epiphone logo hold the strings at the other end. The electronics are also top-notch, featuring Gibson USA Firebird Mini Humbucker pickups with Alnico 5 magnets. CTS potentiometers, Mallory capacitors, and a Switchcraft 3-way pickup switch and 1/4" output jack give this remarkable replica not only the look but also the sound of a classic Firebird V.
