Yamaha RS20MM VSB Revstar Matteo Mancuso Vintage Sunburst

Yamaha Revstar RS20MM - Matteo Mancuso's Signature Guitar for Expressive Playing!

With the Yamaha Revstar RS20MM, Yamaha presents an electric guitar developed in close collaboration with Italian virtuoso Matteo Mancuso. The signature model is based on his personal custom Revstar and blends its characteristic sound with a concept focused on precision, dynamics and playability. Matteo Mancuso is especially known for his exceptionally fluid fingerstyle technique and nuanced articulation. Those very qualities are reflected in the RS20MM. With its resonance-optimized construction, versatile electronics and ergonomic neck design, it gives you the best platform for demanding jazz, fusion and rock styles.

Acoustic Design - Optimized Resonance and Balance

The Yamaha RS20MM pairs a flamed maple top with a chambered mahogany body. The body construction based on Yamaha's Acoustic Design Technology reduces weight and optimizes the instrument's resonance and balance. The three-piece mahogany neck is additionally carbon-reinforced, increasing structural stability. Combining the selected tonewoods and the targeted body design delivers a dynamic response with pronounced sustain and a balanced frequency spectrum.

DiMarzio PAF 36th Anniversary - Dynamic Vintage Humbucker Sound

The RS20MM is fitted with two DiMarzio PAF 36th Anniversary humbuckers, the same pickups found in Matteo Mancuso's custom Revstar. These pickups, modeled on classic PAF specs, exert relatively low magnetic pull on the strings, which leaves the string vibration less affected. That supports long sustain and a highly dynamic response. The pickups yield transparent clean tones, detailed midrange reproduction and precise articulation that holds up even at higher gain settings.

5-Way Switching with Passive Focus Switch

Despite its classic HH pickup layout, the Yamaha RS20MM offers an expanded tonal palette thanks to the 5-way pickup selector. Positions 2 and 4 use special phase variations that create additional tonal characters. In addition, the master tone control features a push/pull function that activates the passive Focus Switch. This shifts the frequency balance by reducing highs and emphasizing mids and bass. The result is a more powerful, denser sound that simulates the character of tighter-wound humbuckers. The combination of 5-way switching and the Focus Switch significantly broadens your tonal options without requiring extra active electronics.

Ergonomic Neck And High-Quality Hardware

At Matteo Mancuso's request, the neck heel on the RS20MM was specially refined to improve access to the upper frets. The three-piece mahogany neck with a satin finish is fitted with a rosewood fretboard whose 12-inch radius, combined with jumbo stainless steel frets, supports precise playability. The 24.75" scale length provides a comfortably controllable string tension. A Tune-O-Matic bridge with stopbar tailpiece ensures solid string anchoring, while locking tuners support tuning stability and facilitate string changes.

Matteo Mancuso Signature - Individual Details

Matteo Mancuso has played Yamaha Revstar guitars since 2017. Their collaboration produced a personally tailored custom Revstar in 2019, and its key construction and electronics features were incorporated into the RS20MM. Signature details include his signature on the truss-rod cover and a specially designed logo inlay at the 12th fret. With these touches, the Yamaha Revstar RS20MM combines the technical demands of an exceptional guitarist with the versatility of a modern electric guitar. A matching deluxe gigbag is included.
