The Gibson SG Standard '61 combines the groundbreaking SG design of the early Sixties with an authentic selection of woods, two powerful BurstBucker humbuckers and traditionally executed hardware. Its lightweight mahogany body, the set-in SlimTaper neck and the short Gibson scale length deliver a direct playing feel, quick position changes and a characterful tone with pronounced mids.

Classic SG Construction

The contoured mahogany body follows the time-honored SG shape and, thanks to its deep-cut cutaways, provides comfortable access to the highest frets. The instrument sits balanced on the strap and responds immediately to your picking dynamics. The neck, also made of mahogany, is firmly glued to the body. This construction supports lively resonance and long, even sustain.

Fast SlimTaper Neck Profile

The slim SlimTaper profile is modeled on the sought-after neck shapes of the early Sixties. Together with the 12" fretboard radius and the 24.75" scale length it creates a comfortable playing feel for chords, bends and fast solo lines. The bound rosewood fretboard carries 22 Medium-Jumbo frets and is fitted with striking acrylic trapezoid inlays. The GraphTech nut supports reliable string guidance and clean intonation.

Two 60s BurstBucker Humbuckers

At the neck and the bridge you'll find a Gibson 60s BurstBucker in each position. The two humbuckers are based on the open, dynamic PAF voice of classic Gibson pickups and add clear highs and punchy output. The 3-way switch lets you select either pickup individually or both together. Two separate volume and two tone controls allow precise shaping of your desired tone. The hand-wired circuitry with Orange Drop capacitors delivers a direct, musical response.

Traditional Gibson Hardware

The proven combination of an ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge and an aluminum stopbar allows precise adjustment of action and intonation. Vintage Deluxe tuners with Keystone buttons underline the classic setup and enable controlled tuning. Nickel-plated hardware, the five-ply teardrop pickguard and black top-hat knobs with silver reflectors complete the traditionally minded appointments. For transport and protected storage a matching hardshell case and a Gibson accessory kit are included.
