Epiphone EDS-1275 Doubleneck – two sonic worlds in one instrument!

The EDS-1275 is one of the most distinctive electric guitar designs ever created. Its concept combines a full-size 6-string and 12-string electric guitar in one instrument, letting you switch directly between the two sonic worlds without changing guitars mid-performance. Epiphone revisits this time-honored doubleneck design in an updated version, pairing its striking silhouette with classic appointments tailored to the model.

Mahogany construction with two set-in necks

The solid mahogany body and two set-in mahogany necks form the structural foundation of the EDS-1275. Beveled body edges and the pronounced double-cutaway design make it easier to reach the full length of both necks. The SlimTaper 60s C profiles keep the feel comfortably familiar despite the exceptional design. Both necks feature bound rosewood fingerboards with split parallelogram inlays, carrying through the model’s classic aesthetic. Kalamazoo-style headstocks with Epiphone Deluxe tuners and Graph Tech nuts complete the traditional look.

ProBucker pickups for 6- and 12-string sounds

Each neck has its own pair of humbuckers: an Epiphone ProBucker 2 at the neck and a ProBucker 3 at the bridge. This provides pickup combinations voiced for both the 6-string and 12-string sections. The 12-string pickups feature nickel covers, while those on the 6-string are open-coil. The result is a range that spans transparent, bell-like 12-string textures to powerful lead and overdriven sounds on the 6-string neck.

Direct control over both necks

The controls are designed specifically for the doubleneck concept. Each neck has its own pickup selector and separate volume and tone controls with CTS potentiometers. An additional three-way switch selects which neck is active or whether both are used at the same time. This lets you incorporate transitions between 6- and 12-string passages directly into your performance. Two LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridges and their corresponding Claw tailpieces provide secure string anchoring, while all hardware has a nickel finish.

An instrument with a distinctive stage presence

The EDS-1275 is much more than an unusually shaped electric guitar: its design grew out of the musical need to connect 6- and 12-string passages without interruption. This very concept made the doubleneck design an icon across a range of musical styles. Epiphone’s current version preserves the model’s distinctive character, combining it with rosewood fingerboards, ProBucker humbuckers and classic hardware. A matching Epiphone hardshell case is included for storage and transport.
