Epiphone Coronet - Cherry

Since its debut in 1959, the Coronet has been one of Epiphone’s most successful solid body electric guitars.

The new Coronet brings back many features of the original Coronet models, including the symmetrical, double-cutaway mahogany body with a PRO P-90 soapbar pickup, a Kalamazoo headstock with Epiphone bikini badge, and Epiphone Deluxe tuners with ivory-colored buttons, plus a white butterfly pickguard with E-logo. The Coronet features a set mahogany neck with a medium C profile, an Indian laurel fretboard with a 12" radius and 22 medium jumbo frets, one volume and one tone control, and a compensated Epiphone Wraparound Lightning Bar.

The one star is because of the look.
Everything else from the frets to the really bad bridge to the lightning bar bridge
this guitar is just bad.
Sure the guitar is cheap, but when you see what other companies make for far less money I can't think of anything more to say about this guitar.
guitar.
If the original US model had not cost 1699,-€ but maybe 1200,-€ my decision would have gone to the US model.
It was the last time I bought something from Epiphone.
Better to save money and buy a decent model.

Due to the model, the Coronet is a bit top-heavy, you should not be bothered as a prospective buyer, otherwise the model is not suitable, as well as you must be able to cope with only one (bridge) pickup. I am not bothered by either.
The varnish, workmanship and quality is Epiphone-typically good, the necessary adjustment and revision work, unfortunately, even for this price range, however, pronounced: oil the fingerboard, polish the frets (very rough!!!), adjust the bridge and re-file the nut have been mandatory. This is not pedantic of me, but was really necessary.....
The P90 pickup is good, no question - but an upgrade can certainly get more out of the guitar. If you don't want to install another pickup, you should bring the existing (good) pickup closer to the strings by means of suitable shims. Unfortunately, the distance is too big and the Dogear P90s cannot be adjusted in height as is typical for the model. I have had 2 copies of the Coronet in hand, with both a shim of about 2.5 mm height would have been necessary.
The guitar is resonant, has adequate sustain and is really fun to play (after adjustment work). The controls are completely practical in my opinion.
Also measured against the price, there is a star deduction from me for the lack of "finishing" the guitar.
