To complete my possible sound spectrum, I would like to have another snare with a deep shell. The goal is a fat deep sound with "bang". And yes - that's exactly what this snare does. I left the heads on it, as they are not bad and sound good for my purpose. That the shell is "only" made of poplar is not a disadvantage for my purpose (because low tones). The snare lift is kept simple, one-sided and does quickly what it should. What I like is that the outside of the shell is slightly chamfered inward just before the shell ridges, so that the skin is not deflected over such a sharp 90° edge. This is also noticeable when tuning. Maybe this is standard, but on my drum set all shells have 90° outside edges. The shell burr is quite cleanly made, but I didn't find a snare bed. That's why I mounted another carpet, which is optimized for strings and thus the end pieces (Cu) rest directly on the head. When mounting with these plastic ribbons, there is a distance in ribbon thickness to the skin, and I have thus "optimized away" because of the missing snare bed. But the supplied carpet works and also sounds quite decent.
The good piece does not come from Japan, but for this price you can not complain.
The snare also looks good, and matches my dark red set. I would buy the drum again.
