The handpan is an absolutely beginner-friendly instrument where percussion and melody come together. Playing the handpan creates soothing, spherical, and long-lasting soundscapes that captivate both player and listeners completely. No prior experience or music theory knowledge is needed, as all tone fields lie within a fixed scale.

Sela Harmony Phoenix Steel Handpans are handcrafted from a special, very durable stainless steel. Their sustain duration lies between handpans made of nitrided steel (Melody and Harmony series) and models made of stainless steel (Harmony Stainless Steel and Majesty). This particularly balanced sustain and warm, controlled tone make Phoenix Steel handpans true all-rounders, playable both slowly and meditatively as well as quickly and percussively.

They thus offer the best of both worlds and are comparatively low-maintenance, as the steel alloy is well protected against external influences like hand sweat and dirt. During production, the Phoenix Steel models receive a beautiful bronze-colored finish.

10 Tones for Greater Musical Freedom

Unlike other Sela handpans, the Harmony handpans made of Phoenix Steel feature ten tone fields instead of the usual nine. This opens up even more creative possibilities for varied melodies. The D Kurd tuning (fundamental frequency 440 Hz) is one of the best-selling scales. The central note in the middle of the handpan is D3, surrounded circularly by the notes A3, Bb3, C4, D4, E4, F4, G4, A4, and C5.

Practical: On the underside of the handpan, a scale overview with the individual tone fields is laser-engraved. Thanks to its bright-sounding D minor scale, this handpan is suitable for spiritual activities like yoga, meditation, and sound baths as well as for playing together with other handpans or instruments like tongue drums, guitar, or percussion.

Each Sela handpan comes with a bag made of tear-resistant nylon fabric, which provides optimal protection during transport thanks to its good padding. It can be carried either by hand using the two handles or comfortably as a backpack via adjustable shoulder straps. A practical outer pocket offers enough space for small accessories like a metronome.

Handpan Stand

The Sela handpan stand is a lightweight, foldable playing stand specially designed for handpans and percussion instruments. The height of the handpan stand is 61 cm, making it ideal for comfortable seated playing. At the same time, the stand increases freedom of movement. With the attached cords, it can be easily and continuously adjusted in height.

The Kirstein microfiber cloth ensures optimal dust absorption thanks to its particularly soft and smooth surface and leaves perfectly cleaned surfaces. Even extremely sensitive surfaces can be cleaned effortlessly and scratch-free with this cloth, as its edging is very delicate and fine. The Kirstein microfiber cloth is excellently suited for dry use due to its relatively low water absorption.
