Tama MBS52AZMBSFBK Starclassic Performer Shell Kit Flat Black

Blacked-Out Black Edition With a Relentlessly Dark Look!

The Tama MBS52AZMBSFBK Starclassic Performer Shell Kit Flat Black is a limited 5-piece acoustic drum shell set that pairs an uncompromising blacked-out design with the proven Starclassic Performer construction. The set consists of a 22" x 16" bass drum, two rack toms at 10" x 8" and 12" x 8" and two floor toms at 14" x 12" and 16" x 14". Maple/Birch hybrid shells, die-cast hoops, the Star-Cast Mounting System and black-nickel shell hardware combine pro-level specs with a particularly striking blacked-out aesthetic. Even the inside faces of the shells are painted deep black, giving this limited shell kit an unusually dramatic visual presence.

Limited Blacked-Out Black Edition

This special finish puts the relentlessly dark design front and center. Shells, mounting points, hoops and other hardware components are executed in matte black or black nickel. The standout detail, however, is on the inside: the shell interiors are painted deep black as well. With the transparent tom heads that interior paint remains visible and gives the kit a particularly intense, cohesive look. The black Fiberskyn front head on the bass drum completes the all-dark character and rounds off the visual concept of this limited edition.

Maple/Birch Hybrid Shells for Starclassic Performer Character

The rack toms and floor toms feature 6 mm hybrid shells made from four plies of birch with two inner plies of maple. The bass drum uses five plies of birch combined with two inner plies of maple. This Maple/Birch hybrid shell construction blends the two woods within a single shell design and forms the sonic foundation of the Starclassic Performer series. The set is aimed at discerning drummers who want a professional acoustic kit with high-end hybrid construction and broad versatility.

5-Piece Setup With Two Rack Toms and Two Floor Toms

The configuration delivers a versatile platform for a wide range of musical styles and playing approaches. The 22" x 16" bass drum provides the foundation. The kit includes two rack toms at 10" x 8" and 12" x 9" plus two floor toms at 14" x 12" and 16" x 14". The combination of two compact rack toms and two differently sized floor toms offers a broad tom setup for dynamic fills and expansive drum arrangements. Two MC69 single tom attachments are included for mounting the rack toms.

Die-Cast Hoops and Star-Cast Mounting System

The toms come fitted with die-cast hoops and employ the proven Star-Cast Mounting System. This mounting solution provides professional rack-tom attachment and integrates seamlessly with the kit's premium hardware. The black-nickel shell hardware reinforces the exclusive look of the Blacked-Out Black Edition. Together with the matte-black shells it creates an almost completely black appearance that clearly sets it apart from classic Starclassic Performer finishes.

EVANS G2 Clear Heads With a View of the Black Shells

The toms are equipped with EVANS G2 Clear heads. The transparent heads keep the deep-black finish of the shell interiors visible and make it a central element of the design. The combination of clear heads, black interior paint and dark hardware gives players a particularly striking visual. On the bass drum, a black Fiberskyn front head complements the kit's consistent blacked-out look.
