For more than forty years the Superstar name has stood for groundbreaking design, superb craftsmanship, brilliant tone and focused projection. The Superstar Classic keeps that tradition alive by raising the bar for discerning drummers — and remarkably doing so while lowering the price. The classic Tama T-Shape badge and the Low-Mass Single Lugs, inspired by Superstars of the past, hint at the simpler aesthetic of the '70s, while the ingenious Star-Mount system and the new, thinner 100% maple shells outshine anything that came before.

100% Maple Shells
Sound is the top priority in the Superstar production. The drums' full, powerful character and rich resonance come from carefully selected woods, specialized construction techniques and top-quality ply carving. The 7mm bass drum shell is built with 8 plies — 6 maple plies with two outer Lacebark Pine plies — while the snare and toms use 6 plies (4 maple plies with two outer Lacebark Pine plies) for a 5mm wall thickness.
Power Craft II Heads
All Superstar "Power Craft II" heads deliver great sound practically straight out of the box. Thanks to the ring dampers on the bass drum heads, no additional internal damping is required.
Bass Drum Claws
These claw hooks stabilize the wood hoops on the bass drum and feature integrated rubber lining that protects the wood and helps maintain tuning even during long gigs.
Tom Mounts
Tama's Omnisphere L-Rod mounting systems have been trusted by drummers for over 25 years. They allow simple positioning while offering maximum flexibility and stability, and they deliver better tone than conventional mounts that intrude into the shell and dampen resonance.
Low-Mass Lugs
These new lugs, designed for the Superstar Classic series, have minimal contact with the shell and do not interfere with the drum's tone.
Star-Mount System
The Star-Mount system was engineered to maximize the toms' vibration. Secured at four tuning screws, its slim design lets you position the toms very close together while preserving their resonance.
Comes With Complete Hardware Package
The Superstar Classic ships with a full hardware package including a bass drum pedal, hi-hat stand, snare stand and two boom cymbal stands.
All Superstar Classic kits are equipped with a double-tom holder mounted on the bass drum, single-ply "Power Craft II" heads and wood hoops on the bass drum.
