The Dayton Audio BST-2 is a compact tactile bass shaker that converts low-frequency audio signals into clearly perceptible vibrations on seating furniture, gaming rigs and other solid surfaces. With 35 Watt RMS power handling, a 4 Ohm impedance and a 10-80 Hz frequency response, the transducer complements existing speaker, headphone and home cinema systems with an intense haptic bass sensation. This lets you feel explosions, engine vibrations, footsteps, impacts and deep rumble physically without needing an extremely high sound pressure level.

A bass shaker works differently than a conventional subwoofer. Instead of producing airborne sound only, the BST-2 sets the mounted surface directly in motion. When the tactile transducer is attached to a sofa, home cinema recliner, gaming chair or sim-racing cockpit, low-frequency effects are transmitted directly to the body. The result is an especially realistic and immersive experience for films, games, music and racing simulations.

With its transmission range of 10-80 Hz, the Dayton Audio BST-2 is specifically tuned to perceptible sub-bass. A low-pass crossover frequency of up to 80 Hz is recommended to reduce unwanted higher frequencies. The shaker is therefore an excellent complement to existing subwoofers, speakers or headphones.

Robust Construction With Efficient Heat Dissipation

The sturdy die-cast aluminum housing protects the internal construction and supports reliable dissipation of generated heat. This makes the bass shaker suitable for continuous, stable operation. The dual suspension design guides the moving mass in a controlled, linear manner, producing strong tactile feedback with minimal unwanted noise.

An integrated foam gasket between the mounting plate and the surface helps prevent annoying buzzing or rattling during intense vibrations. The BST-2 thus provides a solid technical foundation for demanding home cinema, gaming and simulation systems.

Flexible And Secure Mounting

Four mounting holes allow stable screw mounting on flat, sufficiently sturdy surfaces. The distance of the opposite mounting holes is 12.7 cm center to center. With its compact, round housing the body shaker can be installed space-saving under seat surfaces, on stable wooden boards or within a sim-racing rig.

The permanently attached leads are approximately 61 cm long and simplify the electrical connection even in hard-to-reach installation positions. Operation requires a suitable amplifier that supports 4 Ohm impedance and provides an output power matched to the transducer’s power handling.
