Studiologic at Kirstein
Studiologic combines the experience of Italian keyboard manufacturer FATAR with complete electronic keyboard instruments. FATAR was founded in Recanati in 1956 and develops keybed mechanisms for digital musical instruments. This expertise is particularly evident in Studiologic products: choosing the right instrument is not just about sounds and connections, but also about the keyboard action, weighting, control options and integration into a personal stage or studio setup.
SL mk2 – MIDI master keyboards for studio and stage
The current SL mk2 series is designed for musicians who want to play and control virtual instruments, DAWs or external sound modules with a high-quality hammer-action keyboard. The SL73 mk2 and SL88 mk2 use the TP/110 Premium Hammer Action, while the SL88 GT mk2 features the more advanced TP/400 WOOD Graded Hammer Action with wooden key elements. Features include aftertouch, four programmable zones, MIDI 2.0, USB-C and dedicated transport controls for DAW operation. If your setup is mainly centred around software instruments or external MIDI devices, you can find the Studiologic models among our MIDI master keyboards.
An important difference compared with a conventional stage piano is that the SL models are primarily controllers. Built-in piano sounds are therefore not their main purpose. Integration with Numa Player makes it possible to add software instruments directly to the setup. This makes the series particularly interesting for producers, composers and keyboard players who already work with a computer, DAW or external sound modules.
Numa X Piano – stage piano and control centre
The Numa X Piano series combines hammer action, internal sounds and extensive MIDI control in a single instrument. More than 200 sounds cover acoustic and electric pianos, keyboards, organs, synthesizers, basses, guitars and other instruments. Four zones can be assigned to internal sounds or external MIDI destinations. Effects, USB audio and an integrated digital mixer for external audio sources further extend the concept. This makes the models particularly suitable for live keyboard players who want to manage several tasks from one compact setup. Suitable instruments can be found in our stage pianos category.
When choosing within the Numa X Piano family, the keyboard action is particularly important. The Numa X Piano 73 and 88 use the comparatively portable TP/110 hammer action. The Numa X Piano GT, on the other hand, features the TP/400 WOOD with wooden elements and graded hammer action. Musicians who regularly travel between rehearsal room, studio and stage may therefore set different priorities from pianists who place greater emphasis on a more nuanced piano playing feel.
Numa Compact and Numa Player
With the Numa Compact family, Studiologic takes a particularly mobile approach. The current SE models combine a semi-weighted keyboard with integrated piano, electric piano, organ and synthesizer sound engines. Numa Player complements the hardware range as a software instrument for computers and mobile devices. This allows a Studiologic setup to be built either primarily around hardware or as a combination of controller and software, depending on the individual workflow.
Pedalboards and accessories for Studiologic setups
In addition to keyboard instruments, Studiologic also offers solutions for foot control. The MP pedalboards work as dynamic MIDI controllers and can be used, for example, to control organ, bass or other MIDI setups. At Kirstein, suitable models can be found under pedals & footswitches. Additional equipment for transport, setup and playing is also available for keyboard-based rigs.
Which Studiologic instrument is right for you?
For a computer- or MIDI-centred setup, the SL mk2 series is the most relevant product family: it combines hammer action with zone control, DAW functions and modern MIDI connectivity. If you need internal sounds and want to play directly on stage, the Numa X Piano series is worth comparing. Numa Compact places a stronger emphasis on low weight and mobile use. When choosing, it therefore makes sense to consider first whether you need internal sounds, how many keys suit your playing style and how important hammer action, transport weight and MIDI control are within your setup.
