Yamaha DXR mkII series—louder, lighter, simply legendary!

Since its introduction, the DXR series has combined raw power and technological innovation, delivering reliably high performance with superior quality and clarity. The active speakers in the DXR mkII series are newly upgraded models that deliver even higher sound pressure levels and feature a larger yet much lighter 1.75-inch neodymium HF compression driver for extremely clear speech reproduction and musicality.
Once again, our team worked closely with touring speaker specialist NEXO, contributing important insights and expertise that led to design improvements based on the constantly evolving demands of professional sound engineers.
Whether for permanent installations or mobile live performances—whatever direction you want to take your sound, the DXR mkII series is up to the task, combining raw power with our own proprietary advanced DSP features for all the reliability and outstanding clarity you expect from the DXR series, and MORE.

Less weight, more power
The transducers in the DXR range have been improved and meticulously custom-designed. The characteristics and behavior of the speaker components were fully analyzed and evaluated using sophisticated computer simulations to determine their performance potential. The woofers deliver defined, deep bass with low distortion, while the newly fitted, larger yet significantly lighter 1.75" neodymium precision HF compression drivers produce accurate mids and highs up to 20 kHz.
The tweeter is fitted with a newly developed 90°x60° horn featuring a CD (Constant Directivity) design. Its dispersion has been optimized to deliver precise, balanced reproduction even at very wide angles, unlike conventional horns. This allows sound to cover a larger area without disruptive irregularities. The optimal coverage angle is 90° horizontally and 60° vertically. This preserves the entire frequency spectrum, even in the outermost corners of the coverage area.
Yamaha ingenuity and NEXO expertise combine in a new range of DXRs

Ultra-precise 48-bit signal processing for high-definition sound
All full-range models feature Yamaha's own FIR-X tuning, with phase-linear crossover of the frequency bands via FIR filters. FIR-X tuning simultaneously optimizes frequency and phase response by perfectly matching the timing of the HF and LF transducers. This creates an exceptionally smooth crossover and delivers not only very natural imaging but also a far more transparent sound than conventional crossovers can achieve. All signals are processed accurately by a high-performance 48-bit processor (76-bit accumulator) for high-definition sound quality. In addition, all full-range models use high-precision, discrete AD/DA converters with outstanding signal-to-noise ratio and fantastic dynamic range.

Intelligent dynamic control for complete transparency at any output level
D-CONTOUR is an intelligent multiband compressor that ensures powerful, clear sound at any output level. It continuously monitors the output level of multiple frequency bands and calculates the optimal level for each one. The sound remains completely transparent and musical, even at maximum volume.
Precise sound adjustment is achieved using two different settings: FOH/Main and MONITOR. FOH/MAIN boosts low frequencies, which typically suffer when speakers are flown or mounted on stands. MONITOR mode is ideal for stage monitoring. It dynamically reduces low frequencies, which would otherwise be boosted by reflections between the transducer and nearby surfaces when speakers are placed on the floor.
Frequency bands are smoothed across a wide range, so you always enjoy remarkably clear monitor sound. Both presets have been perfected down to the last detail through countless listening tests with experienced sound engineers. The result is a multiband compressor that uses dynamic tone control to deliver balanced, low-distortion sound at any output level.

Comprehensive DSP protection for maximum output
With a typical system consisting of passive speakers, power amplifiers and signal processors, it can be very difficult to set the parameters for each component optimally. One advantage of active speakers is that their power amplifiers can be perfectly matched to the individual speakers. During development of the DSR, DXR and DXS series, the power handling of all transducers and the total output power of the amplifiers were extensively measured and tested. Countless indoor and outdoor listening tests were conducted. Based on the results, we were able to precisely set the optimal limiter threshold for each model using DSP.
In addition to optimized limiting, our new speaker systems use many protection features also found in our top-class TXn professional power amplifiers. A high-performance DSP chip continuously monitors incoming signals as well as the status of the power supply, amplifiers and transducers to protect every component. This allows these speakers to realize their full potential while ensuring safe operation even under the most challenging conditions.
Highly efficient 1100-watt Class-D power amplifier
All speakers in the DXR range are equipped with highly efficient Class-D power amplifiers, optimally matched to the high- and low-frequency drivers. Delivering 1100 watts, these amplifiers provide enormous output for their class and produce an impressive sound pressure level of 133 dB. They offer fast attack times and above-average transient response, making a significant contribution to the speakers' outstanding audio performance.
The DXR range's performance is also supported by a new, highly efficient switching power supply. It accepts multiple input voltages and can therefore be used worldwide.

Intelligent 3-channel mixer
The DXR range features a flexible built-in mixer with multiple inputs, making it ideal for easily amplifying vocals or instruments. Thanks to its versatile inputs and outputs, a PA system can consist entirely of DXR speakers, or the models can be seamlessly integrated into systems with DSR and DXS models.
The built-in mixer handles up to three inputs, which can be used simultaneously. They accept both line and microphone levels, so you can connect a wide range of microphones, line-level instruments and portable audio devices. In the MIC position, a high-pass filter is automatically activated to eliminate unwanted handling noise.
All DXR speakers feature adjustable high-pass filtering for matching with DSR and DXS speaker models. You can choose between 100 Hz and 120 Hz cutoff frequencies, depending on the subwoofer you use. The DXS series subwoofers also feature an adjustable low-pass filter (LPF), allowing for a perfectly optimized HPF/LPF combination.
Each channel has its own level control, so you can mix three independent signal sources. THRU carries the input signal from channel 1. LINK OUT carries the mix of all channels and is ideal for daisy-chaining or routing the mixed signal elsewhere. LINK OUT is also very useful when creating a compact PA with another DXR speaker. LINK MODE lets you select between stereo and dual-mono operation.
Strong, compact ABS enclosures
The full-range models feature rugged, low-resonance ABS enclosures that absorb vibrations generated at high levels. This minimizes distortion and ensures outstanding sound quality. Built for life on the road, the enclosures have sturdy grilles and ergonomic aluminum handles. This makes them even more durable and easier to transport.

Symmetrical enclosure design for mirrored floor monitoring
The enclosure design of the DXR12 and DXR15 allows two monitors to be positioned in a "mirrored" arrangement. This setup creates a symmetrical sound field and a larger, well-defined sweet spot for the performer. It works regardless of the mode used by the linked speakers—dual mono or stereo. In either case, the performance benefits greatly.

Speaker pole socket with two angle options
Depending on the venue, your mix can sometimes be affected by low ceilings or other challenging room characteristics. This makes a clear, balanced mix more difficult and diminishes the audience's listening experience. The two DXR speaker pole socket angles—0° and 7°—let you direct sound energy away from reflective surfaces and where it belongs: toward the audience.
Rigging points for standard eye bolts and optional U-brackets
The DXR series speakers are equipped for rigging with standard eye bolts*. If you need more hanging options, optional U-brackets are available. They allow the speakers to be flown easily in either horizontal or vertical orientation.
*Eye bolts are available separately
