The Telefunken M80 Is the Dynamic Comfort Microphone for Vocalists and Audio Professionals!
Telefunken Elektroakustik designed the M80 as an alternative to the midrange-heavy character of the "industry-standard microphone." With a wider frequency response and a higher maximum SPL, the M80 offers characteristics similar to a condenser microphone in a rugged dynamic-microphone design, and can be used both on stage and in the studio.
Due to the low mass of the capsule and the super-thin yet surprisingly robust diaphragm, the M80 delivers excellent sound reproduction of, for example, vocal performances—what you'd normally expect only from studio condenser microphones.
The microphone-head and capsule design are engineered to reduce proximity effect, which can unnaturally boost the low end of a voice. Yet the mic sounds very full and solid in the bass while remaining open and airy, without producing unwanted feedback in the upper midrange.
The M80 includes a US-made transformer—specifically designed for this microphone—that is primarily responsible for the mic's nearly magical sound.
