Whether with "Nirvana" in the studio or on tour, or at the legendary "Unplugged" TV concert — his bona fide punk roots with the "Germs" keep him grounded.

His signature model is a tour- and studio-proven workhorse that fuses vintage Hagstrom H-IIN-OT cues with features from the current F200 series. A contoured maple top crowns the mahogany body, and despite its healthy thickness it gives the instrument a particularly sleek look. Even more, combined with the Custom 58 AlNiCo pickups, the Pat Smear Signature delivers an extremely powerful, cutting tone that sits perfectly in the Foo Fighters' guitar trio. Punchy when overdriven or elegant and clear when clean: ideal for covering the wide sonic palette of his bands. H-Expander

Resinator Wood

Resinator Wood is a pressure-laminated wood composite that has a denser, more stable structure than standard woods. These properties prevent so-called "dead spots" or "wolf notes" that can occur with some conventional fingerboard materials. Resinator Wood delivers similarly articulate tone and response to high-quality ebony without the unwanted side effects. It provides the player with a stable, clear sound, rich in harmonics and detailed single-note projection. Like our H-Expander truss rod, Resinator Wood is an essential component of the characteristic Hagstrom tone.

Hagstrom Tuners

The Hagstrom tuners recall the original parts from the 1960s; with slightly smaller buttons that are even more comfortable to operate. The 18:1 gear ratio guarantees precise tuning in any situation.
