Fender AV II 73 Strat Mn Moc American Vintage II 1973 Stratocaster In Mocha!

The American Vintage II series brings Fender's icons from the '50s, '60s and '70s back. And when Fender says "vintage", they don't just mean the look. They actually build the instruments to the exact specifications of the original models that have inspired generations of players across all styles.

The Fender American Vintage II series doesn't just echo the historic designs that shaped music history. Many era-correct details have been faithfully reproduced: bodies, necks and hardware, premium finishes and pickups carefully voiced to match the tone of the original model year. Each instrument embodies the authentic character and sound of its original thanks to traditional Fender craftsmanship.

The 1973 Stratocaster

By 1973 the now-classic CBS-era designs had become standard and were used by rock, funk, fusion and prog players around the world. Weekly late-night music TV shows like Don Kirshner's Rock Concert, In Concert and Midnight Special exposed Fender instruments to more attention than ever before and further cemented the Stratocaster's dominance as a pop-culture phenomenon.

The American Vintage II 1973 Stratocaster captures the spirit of that era and features a trio of Pure Vintage '73 staggered-pole pickups, a large headstock with two string retainers, a practical "bullet" style truss rod and a three-bolt neck plate with Micro-Tilt mechanism. The C-shaped maple neck plays like a dream with a rosewood or maple fretboard with a 7.25" radius and Vintage Tall frets. Other features include vintage-style tuners stamped with an "F" and a synchronized tremolo with bent steel saddles and a cold-rolled steel block.

Ash Body

Ash displays beautiful grain and develops a very musical resonance. The wood supports a warm, clear tone with clean highs and punchy mids.

Maple Fretboard With 7.25" Radius

The 7.25" radius fretboard offers a comfortable, typically vintage feel. The Vintage Tall frets make precise bending easier.

Neck In 1973 C Profile

Neck profiles of vintage instruments can vary significantly. That's because Fender developed several variations over the decades. Each American Vintage II instrument is fitted with the exact neck profile of the original model.

Pure Vintage '73 Stratocaster Pickups

The Pure Vintage pickups are designed and voiced to match the sound and performance of the original model year. Construction and materials mirror those used in Fender's golden years — for example, cloth-coated wires, vulcanized fiber bobbins and Alnico magnets are used.

The American Vintage II series restores classic Fender models to their original form. Ideal for players who love vintage tone and feel and who appreciate the highest quality — down to the last screw.

I’ve been playing guitar for many years, both acoustic and electric. Until now, my main guitar has been a 1983 Gibson Les Paul Standard Heritage Cherry Sunburst. For me, this guitar has always been the benchmark. But I really have to say that, personally, the Fender has totally won me over. I think the playability of the C-shaped maple neck is truly fantastic. The guitar feels really good in my hands, isn’t heavy, and just sounds great. After buying the guitar and playing it for the first time, I kept asking myself why I’d waited so long to buy a Strat… The case is great, too—nice and slim and light, perfect for the essentials. This guitar has everything I need. At first, I was unsure about the color, since I usually prefer sunburst, but this combination of blue with the light-colored neck is even more beautiful in person than it is in the pictures. I’m very satisfied, so 5 out of 5 stars.
