Yamaha THR5A - It's Time to Rethink Your Off-Stage Sound!
The THR5A is specifically designed for electro-acoustic guitars and Yamaha Silent Guitars. Thanks to advanced Yamaha modeling technology, it simulates classic tube, condenser and dynamic microphones. Combined with high-end effects, the THR5A delivers studio-grade tones—without a single microphone and wherever you happen to be.
VCM Amp
Developed by a team of guitarists searching for the ultimate tone, the THR delivers the sound you want and the feel you need. Effects that match your performance, together with lush reverbs and delays, catapult your sound to the next level. And because it's uncompromisingly designed as an off-stage amp, you don't need stadium-level volume for great tone. On the contrary: the THR adapts to your situation—even when you want to play quieter. That way you can play for hours. You'll appreciate it—given so much sound and feel...
Four Microphone Simulations and a Clean-Amp Modulation for Electric Guitars

VCM Effects
Most THR effects are based on VCM effect processors from Yamaha's professional mixing consoles — for unmatched authenticity and quality.
VCM (Virtual Circuitry Modeling)
VCM effects can reproduce sonic details with a precision unreachable by simple digital simulations. Instead of merely emulating, they deliver the genuine, musical performance otherwise known only from analog gear — qualities that remain invaluable today.
Yamaha HiFi Technology
The THR series was developed in cooperation with Yamaha's award-winning HiFi division to bring true HiFi sound into an innovative guitar amp. The exclusive, specially designed speaker enclosure is optimized for both instrument and audio playback and delivers equally impressive sound for guitar and playback.
New, Expanded Stereo Technology
The THR series incorporates Yamaha's new, expanded stereo technology for an incredibly wide and full sound image. Stereo tracks and studio reverbs gain a depth that's unimaginable from such a small device.
Battery or Mains Operation
Thanks to two-way power supply, THR amps can be operated either from mains power (power supply included) or on batteries.
Cubase AI
The THR ships with Cubase AI, Steinberg's professional music production software, for full-fledged recording and editing.
THR Editor
The THR Editor offers extensive computer-controlled editing options for amps and effects. Compressor and noise-gate functions are also available.
USB Connection
As a playback input, the THR offers, in addition to the analog AUX jack (e.g. for connecting a smartphone), a USB connection for connecting a computer.
Tap: Metronome / Hold: Tuner
The tap function enables easy setting of delay times. The built-in chromatic tuner works precisely and reliably and features an easy-to-read display.
Virtual Tube Glow
The THR's illumination is staged by imitating an orange tube glow behind the metal speaker grille.
