Since the sound comes from the UAFX Dream '65 and shouldn’t be distorted or shaped by a speaker, the FR-10 delivers completely neutral sound reproduction without affecting the selected impulse responses in the preamp. And it does so at any volume—which it delivers plenty of. Although not strictly necessary, the unit is equipped with an equalizer. Depending on the application, you’ll only need to use it sparingly for additional sound shaping (e.g., slightly less treble).
As for whether it feels like an amp, I can answer with a resounding YES. I replicated my Deluxe Reverb as closely as possible with my preamp and repeatedly played both (preamp + FR-10 and DR) alternately. For me, there’s no “better” or “worse.” Even as a tube fanatic, you can be absolutely satisfied.
The build quality of the FR-10 is impeccable. Everything is sturdy and clean. You don’t hear any internal noise at all. Also worth mentioning are the practical tilt stands attached to the sides.
Whether used as a solo amp or as a monitor on stage, the Fender Tone Master FR-10, combined with a good amp modeler, has you well-equipped.
So: Thumbs up!
Many thanks also to the team at Kirstein, who handled the purchase smoothly and delivered it quickly.

with a generous 1KW and you have everything you need.
Simply good. The tone control is almost a luxury feature, because you don't really need it...
