SERIAL Mode

In SERIAL mode, if both LOOP 1 and LOOP 2 contain musical segments, you can seamlessly switch between them with the footswitch. This lets you easily move between two different sections of your song and control its structure. When LOOP 1 is active, you can record a new track onto LOOP 2, which will automatically begin recording after LOOP 1 finishes playback. If you reactivate LOOP 1 while recording LOOP 2, the recording will stop and LOOP 1 will start immediately.

FREE Mode

In FREE mode, LOOP 1 and LOOP 2 operate completely independently without affecting each other's recording length. It's like having two fully functional, separate loopers.

Intelligent Overdubbing With Flexibility

The VLP-400 enables intelligent overdubbing so you can layer over an existing track multiple times. Each overdub can be controlled to be an exact multiple of the current loop length. If the overdub length is not an integer multiple, the footswitch LED flashes blue to indicate the recording will automatically stop once the length reaches an integer multiple. For those who prefer traditional overdubbing, the "STACK" function can be invoked by holding down the "ASSIGNABLE" footswitch.

More Creative Control With New Knobs and Footswitches

Compared with the VLP-200, the VLP-400 now features ASSIGN knobs and an ASSIGNABLE footswitch to help you shape your sound even more. With just a few turns of the knobs you can enable 7 effects for your loops, including OCTAVE, REVERSE, FREEZE, HALF, FADE, ONCE and SOLO. When these effects are active, the footswitches light up violet. Double-tapping the ASSIGNABLE footswitch will stop and start the loop and drum machine simultaneously, giving you more dynamic control.

Advanced Drum Machine With New High Sample Rate

The VLP-400 features a new 100-stereo drum machine with high-quality 24-bit/48 kHz sampling. With a wide variety of drum kits (rock, pop, jazz, electronic, metal and more), this drum machine can be controlled independently via dedicated footswitches. When you record a phrase loop, the VLP-400 automatically syncs it to the drum machine's tempo for a perfect match. In AUTO mode you can record a phrase and then activate the drum machine, which will automatically adapt to the loop's tempo.

99 Storage Slots for Your Music Library

With 32-bit/48 kHz digital audio processing the VLP-400 can store up to 99 projects, each with up to 6 minutes of stereo recording (WAV, 32-bit float, 48 kHz), totaling 12 hours of recording time. Each project saves recordings from LOOP 1 and LOOP 2, the selected drum pattern and BPM settings. You can also import and export audio files so you can easily take your music library anywhere.

Color-Coded LOOP Indicators For an Easy Workflow

The VLP-400 features multicolor footswitch indicator LEDs (red, green, blue and yellow) that clearly show the current workflow—recording, playback, overdubbing and more. The footswitches for the drum machine and effects also use different colored indicators, making your setup visually intuitive.
