Studio Reverb With Two Independent Sound Worlds!

The Crazy Tube Circuits Mirage is a powerful dual-engine reverb workstation for electric guitar, acoustic guitar, bass, synthesizer and creative sound design. Two fully independent reverb engines each offer 16 carefully tuned reverb algorithms and can be used individually, in series, in stereo, as a dual-mono system or in mono-in-stereo-out mode. Classic plate, spring, room and hall sounds meet modern shimmer, pitch, modulation, freeze and infinite reverbs. Direct controls, a send/return loop and flexible footswitch functions provide precise control without a display or nested menus.

Two Reverb Engines With a Total of 32 Algorithms

The two reverb processors R1 and R2 operate completely independently. Each engine has two banks with eight algorithms each, offering 16 standalone reverb voices. Both sections can generate different room types, be set identically, or be combined for complex, layered sonic landscapes. That gives you a versatile reverb effects pedal for subtle spatial depth, authentic vintage reverbs and expansive ambient soundscapes.

Classic Reverbs and Experimental Soundscapes

The Natural/Vintage bank contains Plate, Cathedral, Hall, Room, Spring, Springier, Inchindown and Gated. Plate delivers a dense plate reverb with clear presence, while Cathedral and Hall create very large, airy spaces. Room emulates a flexible, adjustable recording room. Spring and Springier cover classic amp-style spring reverb up to external studio spring units. Inchindown is inspired by the extremely long reflections of Scottish oil tanks, while Gated produces a punchy reverb with a fast decay in the style of the 1980s.

The Ambient/Experimental bank expands the palette with Up Shimmer, Down Shimmer, Dual Shimmer, Pitch Shimmer, Repeater, Moduverb, Frozen Hall and Infinite. These create octave-shifted reverb tails up or down, continuous pitch-shift textures, rhythmic repeats, modulated spaces and sustained atmospheric layers. Frozen Hall turns a classic reverb into an endless sustain at maximum decay. Infinite records a reverb loop and holds it for continuous, atmospheric sound layers.

Direct Control Without a Display or Nested Menus

Each engine has its own knobs for Volume, Mix, Swell, Excite and Voice. Volume sets the output level and can also serve as a clean boost. Mix adjusts the balance between dry signal and reverb. Swell controls, depending on the chosen algorithm, parameters such as room size, decay, gate time or the freezing of a sound layer. Excite is also context-sensitive and controls, for example, brightness, presence, tone, modulation depth, modulation speed or the intensity of a pitch component. Use the Voice rotary switch and the Shift button to switch instantly between algorithms and banks.

Serial, Stereo and Independent Dual-Mono Routing

In serial mode R1 and R2 are chained, allowing two different reverbs to cascade and form deep, evolving reverb textures. In stereo or separate mode each engine processes its own audio channel. You can use different reverbs on each side or set the same algorithm slightly differently to create a particularly wide stereo image.

The dual-mono mode enables two completely separate mono setups, each with its own reverb engine and footswitch. This configuration works well for, for example, an electric and an acoustic guitar, two synthesizers, or external looper and switcher systems. The MISO mode processes a mono signal and outputs it across two outputs in stereo. This makes the Mirage flexible for use in front of amps, in effects chains, on synthesizers or on a mixer's reverb sends.

Send/Return Loop for Additional Effect Pedals

The passive send/return loop sits between R1 and R2. That lets you place modulation, delay, filter, overdrive, distortion or fuzz between the two reverb engines. For example, a reverb can be created first, then processed by an external effect pedal and finally embedded in a second space. Without external gear connected, the jacks simply form the normal signal path between the two engines.

Flexible Footswitch and Expression Control

In Independent mode the two footswitches R1 and R2 toggle independently. In R1-XF mode the left footswitch activates or deactivates both engines at once. In this mode the right footswitch optionally controls Swell or Excite of R1. When held down the assigned parameter is raised dynamically and returns to the set output value when released. That lets you create reverb swells, shimmer transitions and opening spaces live while playing.

The Expression input accepts an external expression pedal with stereo jack and a linear potentiometer up to 100 kOhm. The pedal controls either Swell or Excite of R2. The position of the related knob sets the available control range. The desired power-up state of both engines can also be saved and automatically recalled at the next power-up.

True Bypass, Tails and Kill Dry per Engine

For R1 and R2 you can choose separately between high-quality relay True Bypass and buffered tails bypass. In Tails mode the reverb tail naturally continues after turning the effect off, while True Bypass removes the effect completely from the signal path. Separate Kill Dry switches allow a pure wet signal of 100% at maximum mix. Kill Dry is intended for use with True Bypass. In Mono-In-Stereo-Out mode both engines must run in Tails mode and Kill Dry must remain disabled.

Robust Reverb Hub for Stage and Studio

The compact die-cast housing in Dark Abyss Blue offers a clear, mirror-image control surface and audio connectors on the top panel. Mirage requires a regulated and stabilized 9 V DC power supply with negative center polarity. Maximum current consumption is 210 mA. For reliable, low-noise performance an isolated power supply output is recommended. The power supply is not included.
