Studio-Quality Signal Processing

The RV-200 combines a powerful reverb engine with premium sound quality featuring a BOSS custom DSP, 32-bit AD/DA conversion, 32-bit floating-point processing, and a 96 kHz sampling rate. The studio-quality reverb algorithms impress with extraordinary detail and definition—from short early reflections to long, dynamic reverberation tails lasting several seconds.

Twelve Distinct Reverbs

The RV-200 offers room sound variations for nearly every song and style—from classic reverb types like Room and Hall to immersive effects like Shimmer, Slowverb, and the new Arpverb.

Reverb Types

• Room Simulates the character of a small room. The Param knob selects from four room sizes.
• Hall Simulates the character of a concert hall. The Param knob selects from three hall sizes.
• Plate Simulates the character of a studio plate reverb. The Param knob balances the damping of high and low frequencies.
• Spring Simulates the unmistakable sound of a hardware spring reverb in a guitar amplifier. The Param knob controls the number of springs.
• Shimmer Creates long, dreamy reverb tails with dense harmonic overtone structure. The Param knob controls the harmonic character and diffusion value.
• Arpverb A newly developed BOSS reverb that produces an arpeggio sound with expressive, pitch-shifted reverb tails. The Param knob controls the attack of the arpeggio sound.
• Slowverb A beautiful ambient reverb with gentle attack and soft harmonic overtones. The Param knob adjusts the balance between direct sound and reverb, enabling intense, immersive sounds.
• Modulate A reverb with full reverb tail and built-in modulation effect. The Param knob controls the modulation depth of the effect.
• +Delay Combination of reverb and delay. The length of both effects is set via the Time knob. The Param knob controls the delay level.
• Lo-Fi A special reverb with limited bandwidth and added distortion. The Param knob controls the distortion amount.
• Gate A distinctive reverb effect whose reverb tail is abruptly cut off. The Param knob controls the timing of the gate effect.
• Reverse Produces a backwards-played reverb sound. The Param knob controls the character of the high frequencies.

Instant Sound Creation

Like all pedals in the 200 series, the RV-200 offers a powerful yet intuitive control panel that lets you create great sounds with minimal effort. Besides core parameters like reverb time, effect level, and pre-delay, there are variable high- and low-pass filters to perfectly tailor the sound to your application. Additionally, there’s a density knob to adjust the weight of the sound and a parameter knob providing access to multiple sound-shaping tools unique to each reverb type.

Expressive Performance Control

The RV-200 features 127 memory slots to save and quickly recall favorite reverb setups. The two built-in footswitches let you control your performance in versatile ways and assign new functions as needed. Options include effect bypass, cycling through memory slots, or a hold function to keep the reverb effect sounding while the switch is pressed. Powerful performance effects like Warp, Twist, and Fade can also be assigned to the footswitches.

Extended Usage

With its expanded control options, you can integrate the RV-200 into any larger rig. Many parameters can also be controlled via externally connected footswitches, an expression pedal, or MIDI I/O through the mini-jack connector. MIDI lets you chain multiple 200-series pedals and select memory slots simultaneously on all pedals. Additionally, assignable functions can be controlled via external MIDI controllers and devices like the ES-8 and ES-5 effect switchers.
