Vibrato From the 50s and 60s!
The Killer V was inspired by some really cool and unique amplifiers built in California, USA, during the 50s and 60s that featured a very special, authentic pitch-shifting vibrato circuit.
With great attention to detail, Crazy Tube Circuits replicated the behavior, tone, and playing feel of the preamp, phase inverter, power amp, and the compression/sag of the tube rectification in these designs. By using fully analog JFET technology and an internal voltage multiplier for high headroom and ultimate tube tone, they succeeded in faithfully reproducing not only the overdrive sounds but also the clean tones with low gain of these amps.
The most important part was recreating the vibrato effect. A fully analog LFO was used to drive two discrete phase-shift modulation stages, producing a pitch modulation effect reminiscent of the original. This effect enhances the three-dimensional sound image and musical feel. As with most original designs, the option was added to blend the dry (unmodulated) signal in parallel with the wet (modulated) signal, allowing for swirling phaser/vibe sounds.
